Honkai: Star Rail’s Yunli finally enters the fray, and the right build will turn her into a monster counter-attacker.
Yunli is a swordswoman from the Xianzhou Zhuming, burdened with hunting down cursed swords. She is a limited 5-star released with phase one of HSR’s 2.4 update. As version 2.4 rolls out, the lucky players will be eager to put her to the test. With a versatile kit and interesting battle mechanics, she will surely find a spot in the metagame.
Here is everything to know about Honkai: Star Rail’s Yunli to get her build ready for battle.
Yunli is a path of destruction physical damage dealer focused on countering attacks, and her similarites with Clara.
Yunli distinguishes herself by swapping the big robot for a big sword and ditching the shoes, among some less-important gameplay differences.
Yunli’s kit grants her a wide selection of tools. Her ultimate puts her in a parry stance and taunts enemies. If she’s attacked before the end of the next turn, she’ll hit back hard with boosted crit damage. Her skill deals damage and heals her, giving Yunli built-in sustain. Both her talent and her technique counter attacks directed in battle and the overworld respectively.
Players should build Yunli with a focus on crit rate and attack damage. Her signature Dance at Sunset is the best option for light cones, giving her crit damage and increased likelihood to be attacked, alongside a buff to her follow-up attacks after using her ultimate. Other options include The Unreachable Side, or the more budget-friendly Under the Blue Sky.
For relics, Yunli thrives with the Wind-Soaring Valorous set as it increases her attack and crit rate, then ultimate damage on top of that after a follow-up attack. The Inert Salsotto ornament will give her more follow-up damage.
Yunli’s best team will focus on healing, aggro manipulation, and energy restoration.
Lynx can heal and direct aggro towards Yunli, giving her more opportunities to counter. Both Huohuo and Tingyun can restore Yunli’s energy to launch ultimates faster. Robin and imaginary March 7th can boost her crit damage, turning Yunli into a nuclear landmine just waiting for someone to swing first. Characters that can debuff enemy defense like Pela also shine supporting Yunli.
Her big sword and bigger damage aside, those who already have Clara or a physical damage dealer they are happy with can skip this banner. But for players who want to have fun with a big-numbers counter build and wonder why Yunli doesn’t deal fire damage, pull away! And maybe join the Yunli mains subreddit that has nearly 3,000 members before she’s even been released.
