The group stage is currently in full swing, and while the teams that won the opening matches have a significant advantage in moving on, the losers still have a chance to qualify.
Betting tip: Even though XLG hasn’t showcased much in this tournament so far, there’s a good chance it’ll at least take its match against Sentinels to a third map.

XLG saw a blow to its roster when it lost YoU earlier this year, and its regional performance took an instant hit. happywei is the team’s only consistent player despite primarily playing controller agents, and the rest of the team’s players have proven unreliable. After a disastrous 0-2 loss against Paper Rex in its opening match, there’s a real chance that the team will lose the first map by a landslide because of a lack of confidence. Look to side with Sentinels for the first map here.
Sentinels hasn’t yet showcased that it can recreate what Paper Rex did against XLG. SEN lost to GIANTX in its own opening match, and much of that was thanks to N4RRATE constantly losing his head. A trend with Sentinels is that the team can get overconfident after winning a first map, resulting in the second map being a significantly easier task for the opponent. This could also happen against XLG, sending the match to a third map.
Fortunately for the American team, zekken and johnqt’s solid performance, paired with Zellsis and bang’s utility and support, should be more than enough for Sentinels to ultimately walk away with the series victory. As for the total rounds, bettors may want to side with only the second map going over 21.5, since most matches XLG loses are finished quickly.

Sentinels will want to go into the first map with guns blazing after how it lost to GIANTX. It’s easy to imagine SEN then making uncharacteristic mistakes on the second map that XLG can capitalize on, but there’s a high chance that Sentinels will eventually emerge as the victor in this series..
