One of the most confusing in-jokes in Hololive stems from resident gremlin streamer Koseki Bijou, but who exactly is Biboo?
Hololive Gen 3 EN, officially known as Advent, debuted in July 2023. Among the five members of the new Hololive generation, Koseki Bijou, formally known as the Jewel of Emotions, became informally known for memes. Her parody song “Sticking out your Gyatt for Nerizzler”, a cover of the popular Fortnite meme song, has millions of views across multiple videos. Many fans note Bijou as the “brainrot” member of Advent, and it’s a title that Bijou wears with pride. Her memes quickly cultivated a dedicated fandom of “Pebbles.” Bijou loves being drawn in her Pebble persona and even encourages people to post their own “pebblesonas.”
One of the more enduring legacies of Bijou’s memeing comes from her nickname among fans, Biboo.
Biboo is a cute nickname that Bijou turned into an in-joke among her fans.
Fans called Bijou “Biboo” at her request, simply because the cuteness of the name sounded more fitting for the rock gremlin. Some fans jokingly try to gaslight Bijou, claiming that they had no idea who she was and they only knew Biboo, much to her feigned annoyance.
During the annual Hololive Sports Festival, many of the Japanese talents wondered who Biboo was. Each time, someone from Hololive EN had to explain the context as a cute nickname. At one point, one of the talents mistook Biboo for the Japanese word “debu”, meaning fat.
The name began to stick even among official Hololive staff. Bijou revealed during one of her live streams that her manager even lists her as Biboo on official Hololive callouts in the private company Discord.
“Let’s see how long it takes for me to not recognize my own name, like Bae-Senpai,” said Bijou, referring to how nobody calls Hakos Baelz “Baelz” anymore.
Not content in mutating her own name, Bijou also called other Advent members with brainrot versions of their names. One of the most popular was “Fuwalter”, a butchery of Fuwawa Abyssgard’s given name that led to many Breaking Bad memes.
At this point, fans will likely forget Bijou before they ever forget Biboo.
