Here’s why G2 wants to bench Snax from CS2 roster

G2 Esports is looking to make big changes to its leadership, including benching Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski from its CS2 roster after an underwhelming BLAST Austin Major run, and we now know why.

G2 Esports has been struggling quite a bit throughout the 2025 esports season, except for finishing as runner-up at PGL Bucharest Major 2025. The Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko acquisition was supposed to turn things around, but months later, not much has changed with the team and its results. Now, the organization seems to be questioning whether it’s time to shake up the leadership to get the roster back on track, if leaks are to be believed.

According to reliable reports, G2 Esports is looking to bench Snax.

Why did G2 let go of Snax?

The European organization is reportedly considering moving Snax to the bench due to a desire to hand the leadership role over to long-standing rifler Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač.

According to existing reporting, G2 is in the process of browsing the available player market for a proper replacement for Snax, with ENCE’s Kacper “xKacpersky” Gabara leading the shortlist of candidates as a potential addition. The young ENCE rifler has a stellar rating of 1.18, which explains why G2 has its eye on him. However, nothing is yet set in stone regarding who will ultimately replace Snax.

Snax joined G2 Esports on July 3, 2024, after transferring from GamerLegion. While G2 secured a respectable 3–4th place finish at BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 1 and came in second at the PGL Bucharest Major, things have looked grim for the squad ever since. Especially after Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov’s transfer to Falcons, G2 has had the look of a disjointed CS2 team. Its short-lived run at the BLAST.TV Austin Major, where the side failed to advance past the group stage and into the playoffs, only further confirmed that the roster might be in need of a serious overhaul.

G2 Esports is already in the early stages of such a rebuild, with Eetu “sAw” Saha replacing Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas as the team’s head coach. If huNter-’s role switch comes to fruition, G2 will head into the season with an entirely new leadership structure.

While this move isn’t yet official, it’s already almost certain fans will see huNter take on the IGL role in place of Snax, especially given that G2 has reportedly asked him multiple times to step into the position. The pro player has been with the German organization since 2019 and is more familiar with its structure than any other existing player on its payroll.
