Fortnite OG Chapter 2 is coming later this year, but it may not be exactly what fans are hoping for.
It’s been confirmed that Fortnite OG is returning in the form of Chapter 2. Epic most likely saw the success of the OG event in 2023 and decided it was time to run it back. Fortnite OG came out in November 2023, bringing back nostalgic elements from four years ago when Fortnite was originally released. This includes POIs like Tilted Towers and the original spread of weapons. Taking away newer additions like swimming further made it feel like back in the day. The OG event reached 44.7 million players, breaking previous player count records.
Now, Epic wants to do another OG event in the form of Chapter 2, but fans aren’t necessarily as excited as they were the first time around.
The release date for Fortnite OG Chapter 2 is November 2, 2024.
While the first OG update had Fortnite fans beyond hype, the response to Fortnite OG Chapter 2 hasn’t been as positive. A lot of players have expressed that Chapter 2 is “not OG,” claiming that Chapter 1 is the only true original chapter. Not only that, but a lot of Fortnite fans also felt that Chapter 1 is better, claiming “nobody” cares about the return of Chapter 2.
Chapter 2 brought a lot of changes to Fortnite. This included a new XP system and the medal reward system. The battle pass also had over 100 levels with a lot of free rewards, including receiving the Turk and Journey Outfits right upon purchasing the battle pass.
People have looked back fondly at Chapter 2 since it was focused more on having fun rather than grinding. This includes the addition of fishing, allowing players to take a break from the competitive side of the battle royale and goof around with friends. In fact, the addition of swimming boats and fishing had some players expressing that Chapter 2 was an improvement over the first season.
Two years ago, players were asking for it back. Now that it’s coming back, however, gamers have changed their tune. One Fortnite fan expressed that Chapter 2 was technically better, but he’d rather play Fortnite Chapter 1 again. There was just something special about bringing back the very beginning of the game, which has since transformed into a game full of Marvel crossovers, anime skins, and wacky weapons.
