Nijisanji EN’s Scarle Yonaguni got banned from Twitch despite never having streamed once on the platform, but why?
While the company has faced its fair share of controversy in the past year, Nijisanji remains the de facto biggest vtuber company in Japan. Despite the issues, the talents working at Nijisanji remain entertaining performers, and most fans don’t blame them specifically for those issues. Scarle Yonaguni, a talent from Nijisanji EN’s sixth generation, is one such talent.
With her sultry design and snarky personality, Scarle has amassed an army of fans with whom she’s built a rapport. However, one such bonding event may have led to Scarle’s ban from the Twitch platform.
Twitch banned Scarle Yonaguni for breaking Twitch’s terms of service and community guidelines. Scarle believes this was because of an offline hype train she held on Twitch chat.
Vtubers can have it hard on the Twitch platform, with controversies like the Knock feature threatening to reveal their IRL personas. Still, it remains a popular platform for many vtubers.
However, the same can’t be said for Scarle. Although she has a Twitch account, Scarle has never actually streamed on the platform before. However, she has admitted to holding offline chat parties. Scarle believes these offline chat parties may have been the reason for her ban.
Twitch hasn’t officially clarified why it banned Scarle Yunaguni, however. Some speculate that it was an automated bot preventing suspicious monetary activity. If Scarle received multiple subs and bits without having streamed once, it may have triggered the ban. Another possibility is that during the offline chat party, one of Scarle’s viewers typed something out that went against Twitch guidelines.
Either way, Scarle’s ban from the platform is indefinite, but she assures fans that her manager is on it. Regardless, vtuber fans immediately accused Twitch of anti-vtuber behavior. The platform controversially banned vtuber FeFe for the 7th time in August 2024, once again for unexplained reasons.
Multiple vtubers were also banned for “inappropriate attire” after Twitch suddenly changed the rules on live streaming without proper warning of the changes. With Twitch’s compounding issues, many vtubers may be wary of joining the platform in the future.
