Hololive experienced multiple graduations in 2024, and fans wonder why.
2024 was an emotional year for Hololive fans. The company reached new heights with high-profile collaborations (such as with Major League Baseball) and multiple solo lives for beloved talents. The agency also saw the debut of over a dozen talents, each bringing unique qualities to the loaded roaster.
Sadly for fans, not everything ended in good vibes. 2024 also saw the exit of many established faces in the company. Minato Aqua graduated in August 2024, and ever since then, multiple talents have left the company. The back-to-back graduations left fans worried about the company’s direction.
The following talents graduated from Hololive in 2024.
Each of these talents graduated in the latter half of the year. Fans were understandably shocked by these announcements. The talents had regular streams and performances beforehand. Most fans never had cause to worry about a graduation.
In addition to the graduations, Cover Corp terminated the contracts of Yozora Mel and Hizaki Gamma in early 2024. The reasons for the terminations weren’t elaborated past “contract breaches.” A-Chan, the beloved on-screen staff representative from Cover, also left the company in June 2024 for family reasons.
Hololive’s goals in 2024 and beyond are reportedly no longer aligned with the graduated vtubers. Although the details for each Hololive graduation vary, they are broadly similar. Each talent believed Hololive’s goals did not mesh with their circumstances.
Health reasons played a role in Sakamata Chloe’s graduation announcement. Multiple Hololive talents have shared how busy they have become in 2024. Some talents took multiple breaks to ensure they could continue with their activities in the future. Unfortunately in Chloe’s case, the health reasons were severe enough that a split from the company became necessary.
Amelia Watson simply wanted to pursue other projects that conflicted with her activities in Hololive. Notably, Chloe and Amelia took the “semi-graduation” route. This meant that they would remain affiliates of Hololive, though they would no longer perform or have new merchandise. However, they could return with special appearances. No graduated talent has returned as of this writing.
In contrast, Ceres Fauna and Minato Aqua did not take the affiliate route. This made the split between the talents more “permanent,” especially as no graduate has returned to Hololive yet. For the moment, nobody can predict where Hololive will be in 2025.
