Steven “Boogie2988” Williams sparked controversy after threatening to selfharm on the latest episode of Daniel “Keemstar” Keem’s Lolcow Live podcast.
When it comes to controversies, one doesn’t need to look further than the likes of Boogie2988 and Keemstar. Both men have attracted more controversy in the last four years than most influencers will ever gain in their lifetime. Boogie2988 was once a relatively well-liked figure online until his erratic behavior pushed away many of his fans. Meanwhile, Keemstar’s creation of DramaAlert showcases what happens when those reporting on controversy try to insert themselves into the equation. Nowadays, he runs Lolcow Live, a podcast he hosts with various “lolcows,” controversial figures in the online space.
Boogie 2988 regularly hosted the podcast alongside Keemstar, but recent events changed that dynamic for the foreseeable future.
Keemstar fired Boogie2988 from the Lolcow Live podcast after allegedly faking his cancer diagnosis, which led to Boogie threatening to selfharm on stream during a heated argument with Destiny on the same podcast episode.
In the latest episode of the Lolcow Live podcast, Keemstar and Boogie2988 alongside guests Steven Kenneth “Destiny” Bonnell II and Mutahar “SomeOrdinaryGamers” Anas, discussed if Boogie was faking his cancer. Two hours into the podcast, Destiny and Boogie entered a heated argument revolving around Destiny’s controversial comments regarding the Trump shooter.
For context, Destiny was reportedly banned from Twitch for disparaging Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who was killed by Trump’s would-be assassin. “F— the dude, the firefighter guy,” said Destiny during a livestream. Viewers from both sides of the political spectrum criticized Destiny’s harsh words, and Boogie2988 was among them. However, Boogie2988 also accused Destiny of encouraging selfharm.
“Are you encouraging people to cut? Go f— yourself! I used to cut. I don’t know, you’re encouraging people to cut!” said Boogie2988 in a heated tirade.
He then told Destiny to “hold on” and disappeared for a moment, before reappearing with a knife, then threatened to cut himself while yelling curses at the other guests. Keemstar left the video call shortly after. According to the podcast host, Boogie did not go through with the threat of selfharm. Nevertheless, Keemstar kicked Boogie2988 off the podcast, and claims through a social media post that the latter’s cancer remains unconfirmed.
Boogie2988 apologized for threatening selfharm during the podcast but insisted his cancer diagnosis was true. Regardless, the incident widened the rift between influencers who already had little reason to like each other.
