After a rough start to the summer with the disappointing Fallout collab, Fortnite players may actually have a win with vehicles being removed.
July 4 marks the beginning of Fortnite’s All Sweat Summer. Online, fans are complaining about the lack of fanfare and actual summer events. Over the years, Fortnite has been reducing the amount of content and prizes. However, there’s a silver lining for some playersin no vehicles for ranked this summer.
Fortnite’s vehicle removal may only be temporary, but many are excited even with this reprieve for ranked play.
For All Sweat Summer ranked battle royale and zero build, Fortnite is removing all vehicles from play.
Vehicles in Fortnite have been controversial since their addition in 2018. Many players have been asking for their removal, especially in ranked battle royale, for years. The biggest complaint is that certain gimmicks like boss cars detract from the actual gameplay and fighting.

Fortnite Support states that the vehicle removal will hopefully make ranked feel more like actual tournament play. Their other summer changes reflect this goal.
Epic Games is removing two other Fortnite features for July in Nitro Fists and hireable characters.
Nitro Fists are a Chapter 5 Season 3 introduction to Fortnite with four charges. While popular among lower-skilled players, some online have been complaining that they’re too overpowered.

There are also characters across the Fortnite map that can be hired for gold bars to help PCs. For instance, Wastelander Magneto sells bandages for 100 gold bars, and Ruckus will work as a heavy specialist for 200. Hiring an NPC can give competitors an unfair advantage in ranked. However, until mid-July, Wastlander Magneto and other character’s mercenary abilities are down.
All Sweat Summer runs from July 4 to July 18, after which Epic Games will probably add all vehicles and other buffs back in. While many hope that the changes in ranked will stay, the best thing to do now is to enjoy a vehicle-free experience in Fortnite.
