The Game Awards nominations are live, and vtuber Usada Pekora has made the list for Best Content Creator. But who is she?
With several more mainstream names on the list, Usada Pekora is a bit of a dark horse entering The Game Awards nomination pool. While those in the vtuber space may be familiar with her content, others may be just discovering her for the first time. Usada is certainly going to be a figure to watch, and her bunny ears make her hard to miss.
Here’s what people need to know about Usada Pekora before they vote in The Game Awards.
A popular vtuber, Usada Pekora has gained a large fanbase as part of the third generation of Hololive Japan.
Usada Pekora is one of the most popular vtubers by subscriber count, with over 2.6 million subs on YouTube and 1.7 million on X. Debuting in 2019 as part of Hololive, the Japanese streamer is known for her rabbit-like persona and mischief online. Her lore revolves around coming from Pekoland, a region known for humans with rabbit ears, and being royalty.
With respect to her streaming, Usada plays several different video games on her YouTube channel, including Minecraft, various Mario games, and Black Myth Wukong. She also frequently hosts or attends collaborations with other Hololive talents like Houshou Marine and Gawr Gura. Many fans appreciate her incredibly long live streams and her comedic personality.
Usada isn’t the only vtuber to ever be nominated for Best Content Creator at The Game Awards. In 2023, another popular streamer from VShojo named Ironmouse took the award home. Could this be the start of a vtuber sweep in the years to come?
Usada Pekora is one of five Best Content Creator nominees for the 2024 Game Awards.
The other four nominees are all non-animated streamer accounts with anywhere between 4.2 and 43 million subs on their main accounts. Each also focuses on different kinds of games, with at least some amount of reaction content. The other choices for Best Content Creator include the following four names.
Interested parties have until December 11 to vote for Usada Pekora for Best Content Creator and any other Game Awards categories. The winners will be announced during the live stream on December 12 at 7:30 pm EST.
