No other time of the year is more exciting for Dota fans than The International. Unsurprisingly, TI 2024 is no different. In addition to the exciting competitive matches, The International is often home to new hero announcements. Dota 2’s new hero Kez was announced at the event just before the start of the grand final. Those who played through the Crownfall events may recognize Kez’s similarities to Kestrel, the head of the Kazurai order. As the supposed best warrior of the flightless, Kez will lead the flightless to furious victory against the oppressors.

When is the release date of Kez in Dota 2?

The release date for new hero Kez will likely be the same as Crownfall Act 4 coming in 2024.

Valve has yet to give a concrete release date for Crownfall Act 4, but fans likely won’t have to wait too long. Unlike fellow new hero Ringmaster, Kez will debut quickly after his initial announcement. Based on the character’s role in the story and design, most speculate Kez will be an agility carry similar to Juggernaut.

Like all of Dota 2’s heroes, Valve will add Kez for free to the main roster for everyone to play. Reports of a bird samurai character have floated around the community as early as 2022. A Redditor compiled an allegedly datamined list of 21 unreleased heroes for Dota 2. Notably, the very first entry refers to a bird samurai.

Certainly, the concept of a bird samurai is nothing unique to Dota 2. Even so, the confirmation of one of the heroes on the leaked list adds some truth to the data-mined information. According to the leak, Kez’s abilities will be named Avian Assault, Plumage Parry, and Shadow Feather.

Whether these names will stick past the concept stage remains to be seen in the final release. Either way, more fans will likely keep a close eye on the list for hints of the next Dota 2 hero. For the moment, Kez’s animated trailer should tide over fan hype until his release later this year.
