Valve is already dropping hints about the release date of Crownfall Act, and we have a solid guess for the date.
Valve Time appears to be a thing of the past when it comes to Crownfall. Dota 2’s developer has pushed out content earlier than fans expected for Parts 1 and 2, and the company is already dropping hints about when Part 3 will arrive. The initial approximate date was set shortly after the release of Act 2, but it seems there might be some changes. However, there’s reason to believe that Valve will finally relapse into missed release dates all thanks to a pesky punctuation mark, with the delay compared to the initial estimate.
Valve has taken a joking play approach to the release date, humorously referring to it as ‘June 39th’ in the Dota 2 client.
With Crownfall Act 3: The Frosts of Icewrack fast approaching, here’s everything we know about the release date and if it will include Ringmaster.
The release date for Crownfall Act III will be either June 21 or 28, based on Valve’s in-game announcement.
This prediction is based on an in-game schedule announcement added with a bug fix patch sometime during 7.36. The third icon on the front page, which represents Crownfall Act III, has changed to announce a release date sometime during late June. Crownfall parts, including the event’s release, have all come out on Fridays. That leaves June 21 and 28 as the most obvious days for it to come out. The third act is significant as it continues the storyline and introduces new features.
Players will have a new pixel map with all sorts of minigames to play and rewards to find which hopefully includes another round of fishing. This act will also bring new characters, quests, and potentially a new hero. Other features might include additional treasures and updates to existing game systems.
However, there’s a small wrinkle in that prediction. Valve specifically wrote “Late June?” on the Act III icon. This casts doubt as to whether it will come out in June at all. The third leg of the event may require some extra polish, which could push it back to July. If so, the most likely release date for Crownfall Act III will be July 5. Valve has generally gotten Crownfall out at a faster pace than fans have come to expect, but there’s always the chance of a delay.
There are no signs that Crownfall Part 3 will introduce Ringmaster, but it’s still possible.
Dota 2 fans have been chomping at the bit to play Ringmaster ever since Valve announced the hero at The International 2023. However, multiple Crownfall parts have come and gone with no sign of the clown. Valve specified only that Ringmaster would come out sometime in 2024. That could be as late as December, though Part 2 may have set a precedent for new game content. Potential new features like the candystore upgrade and cavern crawl system are highly anticipated.
The Deserts of Druud arrived with 7.36, which is one of the biggest Dota 2 patches in years. It also came out of left field, with no thematic connection to Crownfall. The Frosts of Icewrack have nothing to do with an insane circus-based kidnapper, but that doesn’t seem like it will stop Valve. It seems totally random if Ringmaster will come with Crownfall Part 3, but the last new hero introduction may give another strike against it. Muerta arrived with a small event to commemorate her release. Considering that Crownfall is already moving along, there isn’t enough room for another event to pair with Ringmaster. Valve could wait for after Crownfall to give the clown the respect he deserves. The same cavern crawl system is expected to continue, along with new items and features.
New items like the crownfall treasure and the third crownfall treasure are also expected to be part of the update.
The storyline of Crownfall Act 3 will likely focus on Vengeful Spirit and her ongoing battle. The narrative of Vengeful Spirit fighting against her sister for the throne is a central theme.
Skywrath Mage is also expected to play a role, potentially interacting with other heroes in the new setting.
Valve has handled the release date announcements in a humorous way, often referencing the meme about ‘Valve Time’ due to delays.
