With MSI behind us and the Esports World Cup just around the corner, fans are eagerly anticipating the 2024 LEC Summer Split, which will determine the future of Europe’s top teams.
Riot’s major changes ahead of the 2023 season added an intriguing twist to the end of the competitive campaign. In addition to the finals, the league will host a three-day tournament between the highest-ranked teams from the three Splits. The new tournament will place at the Olympiahalle Arena in Munich. The special event gives teams more even reasons to fight for the top positions in the EMEA league.
Unlike the LCS schedule which remains up in the air, Riot has the entire 2024 LEC Summer Split planned out to the last minor detail.
The 2024 LEC Summer Split officially begins on June 8, 2024, and will end after four weeks of action on June 30.
Ten teams will engage in a series of best-of-one matches throughout the month, with the top eight advancing to the Summer Playoffs. There will be no changes in the lineup for the final Split of 2024 and the participating teams remain the same.
With the latest format changes, the 2024 LEC Summer Split will determine all three teams that will represent the EMEA region at Worlds 2024. As a consolation for the teams that excelled during the earlier Splits, the ones with the most Championship Points across all stages of the season will qualify for the LEC 2024 Season Finals.
The 2024 LEC Summer Playoffs will kick off on July 12, 2024, one week after the Esports World Cup LoL tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Riot adjusted the schedule to support the participation of Europe’s top teams in this new format.
The eight playoff teams will engage in a series of best-of-three and best-of-five games in a double-elimination bracket across two weeks. The winner of the playoffs qualifies for Worlds 2024 as the lowest seed while the top three teams earn a spot in the LEC 2024 Season Finals.
The Season Finals tournament has been scheduled for August 30 – September 1 in Munich and will feature six teams. The three best teams from the Summer Split get to participate, as well as the Winter and Spring champions. Since G2 won both Splits, the remaining slots will be filled by the teams with the most Championship Points from the entire season.
The 2024 LEC Summer Split will culminate across three days as six teams battle for the last two Worlds seeds. If the Summer Split champion finishes in the season finals top two, the best non-qualified team will get the slot.
