When does the current Fortnite season end?

when does the current fortnite season end
Highlights
  • The current Fortnite season is Chapter 7 Season 1.
  • The ongoing season is scheduled to end on March 4, 2026.
  • C7 S1 would have run for almost three full months.

Are you wondering when the current Fortnite season ends? This is an important question to know the answer to, and you’ve come to the right place. Seasons often bring about distinct gameplay changes, and they almost always feature new locations on the map. The loot pool changes a bit as well, which is why we update our Fortnite weapons tier list. So it’s a slightly different game with every transition. If you like the current one, you need to know how long you have. If you don’t like it, it’s good to know how long you have to wait.

When Does the Current Fortnite Season End?

Fortnite Chapter 7 just debuted. After the second mini season of Chapter 6 (this time it was themed around The Simpsons), the game is back to a normal, full season. This is the 39th out of all the Fortnite seasons. It is expected to end on March 4, which makes it a fairly long season. 95 days isn’t as exorbitant as some of the longest seasons in Fortnite history, but it is longer than the average. That date is subject to change, as the beginning date was initially earlier before the previous season was extended, but it won’t change by much. There will be roughly three months of Chapter 7 Season 1.

Extending Fortnite Seasons

Fortnite seasons can be extended, but this is a very rare situation. The date is not always locked in, though Epic generally does try to keep them rigid. Epic typically establishes pretty early on how long a season is going to last. They have a roadmap, and they’re often planning well into the future – Fortnite leaks frequently reveal upcoming content and collabs. So unless something significant happens, they know when a season is going to start and end well in advance. However, it has happened before.

How Long Do Fortnite Seasons Last?

The answer to this question changes all the time, though. Full seasons typically last between 75 and 90 days or close to three months, but typically is the operative word here. Here’s how long recent Fornite seasons have lasted:

  • Chapter 6 Season 3: 61 days
  • Star Wars Season: 36 days
  • Chapter 6 Season 2: 70 days
  • Chapter 6 Season 1: 82 days
  • Chapter 5 Remix: 29 days
  • Chapter 5 Season 4: 78 days
  • Chapter 5 Season 3: 84 days
  • Chapter 5 Season 2: 77 days
  • Chapter 5 Season 1: 96 days

Other notable seasons were:

  • Chapter 4 Season 1: 96 days
  • Chapter 3 Season 3: 105 days
  • Chapter 2 Season 3: 71 days
  • Chapter 2 Season 1: 118 days
  • Chapter 1 Season 6: 70 days
  • Chapter 1 Season 1: 51 days

As you can see, there’s a huge variance in how long these seasons last. Typically, special seasons are short, while Fortnite chapter introductions are long. Everything else is somewhere in the middle, so the answer for when the Fortnite season ends will change and is sometimes impossible to predict. For example, we knew that the current season of Fortnite ends on November 1 and will last a total of 86 days, but we can’t know if the next season will also last 86 days and end on January 26. We know now that it’s a Mini Season as well, so we know it’ll be short, but that means nothing for what Chapter 7 Season 1 will be like.

  • Fortnite’s popularity: With all the new content, is Fortnite still as popular as it one was or is Fortnite dying?

This is due to a myriad of factors. The Star Wars season, for example, was never meant to be a full season. Neither was the OG Season in Chapter 4 nor the Remix season in Chapter 5. The calendar also plays a role. Epic Games likes to give players the weekend to start a new season or chapter as often as they can, which can sometimes extend or cut short a season.
