Valorant 9.0 lore dropped on the Kingdom archives, and new voicemails and emails have added quite a bit to the game’s evolving storyline.
Right before 9.0, Valorant added the map Abyss. With it came a cinematic that showed members of the Valorant Protocol exploring and fighting on the map. Omen was there and looking for answers about his past, similar to the Reckoning trailer from months earlier.
While the new lore doesn’t explain everything, it does set the stage for Agent 26. It also raises a more sinister question – is there a reason Brimstone is never answering his phone?
Valorant 9.0 lore reveals that Omen is still on the hunt after records were destroyed on Abyss and Fade is still searching for the mysterious man from her past.
An email from Sage to Brimstone explains that the archives on Abyss were destroyed in every way possible. Omen had hoped to find answers to his past in them, and Sage explains that she left him to his thoughts after the news. On the flip side, Agent 26 may have these answers, but Omen doesn’t know that.
Fade is also distraught after the battle at Abyss. Since Fade was first introduced, she’s been searching for a mysterious man from her past. It’s not clear who this is, but Fade is desperately searching for him. She expected him to be at Abyss. After not finding him, she leaves an emotional voicemail to Brimstone. In it, she’s extremely upset but also set on continuing her search.
Other voicemails give more insight into Agent 26, confirming that they’ve escaped after the end of the 9.0 cinematic. Skye in particular discusses the flora shown, starting to say something before cutting off and saying she’ll call Gekko. Both Skye and Gekko are related to Radivores, which are radianite creatures.
There are six known Radivores in Valorant – the four Gekko uses as abilities and the bear Deadlock finds in her cinematic. The sixth one, as a user on Reddit pointed out, can turn into any kind of flora.
Valorant 9.0 lore makes it seem like Brimstone may be hurt, not answering his phone while most of the Valorant Protocol is at Abyss.
Brimstone is the leader of the Valorant Protocol, so it makes sense that he’s on the receiving end of all these voicemails. However, the 9.0 lore makes it seem like the situation is a bit more dire. For some reason, Brimstone not answering his phone briefly frustrates Skye.
This wouldn’t be unusual on its own. However, at the end of the 9.0 cinematic, harm may have come to Brimstone. Brimstone and Jett aren’t with the rest of the Valorant Protocol when they’re invading Abyss. Instead, it looks like Agent 26 has attacked them.
At the end of the trailer, the flora creeping along the ground is among empty bullet casings and one of Jett’s knives. Brimstone is always carrying the Odin, the large machine gun in Valorant. In-game, the Odin is the only gun that drops a ton of casings when fired. Considering they’re not with the other Agents, Skye’s comment may be hinting at something different.
