As far as ambitious projects go, Hololive has an abundance compared to other vtuber agencies. Although the bulk of Hololive’s entertainment still comes from live streaming, it has collaborated with several other projects to attract new fans. From officially supporting independent video game developers to collaborations with Major League Baseball, Hololive is not shy about its global aspirations.

ENigmatic Recollection is the latest project from Hololive that continues this goal, but what is it exactly?

Hololive’s ENigmatic Recollection is a multimedia project that crosses genres through video games, songs, animations, and other forms of media.

In the overarching story, all 19 members of Hololive English mysteriously lose their memories and wake up in Libestal. Joined by a common cause to protect their new home, ENigmatic Recollection will tell its story through a variety of mediums. Hololive developed the first game in a sandbox format, similar to Hololive Alternative. The project will reveal more of its story through other forms of media, such as animations and songs.

Much like the world of pro wrestling, the line between reality and fiction blurs in these types of projects. After all, Hololive Justice was tasked with capturing Hololive Advent. It did not stop either generation from collaborating. Some fans have already shared ideas on what they want to see Hololive do with the concept.

Some tabletop fans hope for a Critical Role-style roleplaying session. Hololive English is no stranger to these campaigns. In May 2021, Hololive Myth began the Mythbreakers campaign, using Hunter: The Vigil. For fans, this was a teaser of how the Hololive English talents could work in a semi-scripted narrative.

As for animations, Hololive has no qualms about hiring fan animators for official projects. For example, Kanauru started with simple memes on their YouTube channel, and now they have collaborated with Hololive English multiple times. Fans already have some creators from multiple genres who they hope will work with Hololive for ENigmatic Recollection.
