What disease does SunnySplosion have? Both explained

SunnySplosion disease

SunnySplosion explained in her first stream back that her disease affected her health when she was streaming as Kunai Nakasato, and it may have been the reason why she left Nijisanji.

The ex-Nijisanji star Kunai Nakasato went on a hiatus in July 2024 but told fans she would return. However, in September 2024, the vtuber announced her graduation shocking fans. Fans were even more confused when just one day after Kunai’s graduation, the vtuber announced her return as her past persona SunnySplosion. Fans questioned the vtuber’s departure from Nijisanji and her return as an independent vtuber. However, neither Kunai nor Sunny gave any explanation.

That may have changed, as in her first stream, SunnySplosion talked about the disease she has and how it affected her significantly while she was streaming as Kunai.

SunnySplosion’s disease

In her stream, SunnySplosion stated that she had a disease called “complex regional pain syndrome,” but after getting better she got rheumatoid arthritis, which she still has.

The vtuber Kunai Nakasto has talked about her health problems in the past but only now explained what exactly caused her to take a break. SunnySplosion explains that she went on a plane and developed pain in her right hand. After getting her hand checked at a hospital she found out that she had developed a blood clot which caused nerve damage.

The disease affecting the vtuber is called complex regional pain syndrome, which demands some heavy medication. However, Sunny got joint and knee pains after curing the initial disease. In tests, it was found she developed rheumatoid arthritis and the CRPS likely caused it.

The medication for the arthritis caused an allergic reaction in Sunny. who ended up in the emergency room. The medication needed to build up in a patient’s system. However, Sunny developed hives after the medication properly took effect, suggesting it wasn’t compatible with her body. The doctor changed her medications and she has less hand pain now, though the vtuber states that she now stays at home because it is risky for her to leave.

Did Kunai graduate from Nijisanji because of her illness?

SunnySplosion didn’t mention Nijisanji in her stream and just stated that her hiatus has ended.

SunnySplosion doesn’t give a reason for Kunai Nakasato graduating from Nijisanji. She mentions that her disease may be better now but she still has to stay at home more often because of her weakness. Kunai likely graduated from Nijisanji so she would have fewer responsibilities.

As an independent vtuber, SunnySplosion has more freedom and can independently decide schedules and other things. This way, the vtuber can control her disease better and not stress much from streaming and other activities.
