Riot Games may have finally spilled the beans on Valorant map 12 in a new teaser for the upcoming agent, codenamed Sherry.
Agent 26 is about a week away from an official reveal at VCT 2024. That means they will become playable around August 27 or 28. Typically, Riot starts to post teasers about an upcoming character a week before the official release, and, as expected, the first official video dropped today August 19. The footage continues after the agent’s breakaway from Abyss, tracking their location to a city at night. A woman’s voice warns locals about an incident that’s causing damage to nearby shops, urging them to be cautious.
This confirms that the next agent is Korean, who’s on the run and will soon meet up with the protocol, formally entering Valorant at the end of August. However, all eyes are set on the location used in the short clip.
The Valorant map 12 release date is at least four months away, with an expected arrival sometime in December 2024 or January 2025.
The latest Agent 26 teaser hints at a Korean setting for the next map, which would be a fitting addition given the upcoming sentinel agent and the current lack of a Korean map despite having two agents from the region. If the teaser is anything to go by, it may even be set in the middle of a bustling city.
It’s worth noting that when Indian agent Harbor was released, Pearl soon followed, a map set in his homeland. So, it’s not too far-fetched that the next map may follow the same pattern. But it won’t be released soon.
Valorant maps usually follow a seven-month release cycle, but Abyss broke this pattern with a 10-month gap after Sunset. This irregularity might be balanced out by a quicker release of Valorant map 12, returning to the typical rotation schedule of the seven-month gap.
