Felix “xQc” Lengyel made major headlines, including with mainstream media, when he signed a massive streaming deal with streaming platform Kick. A few years into his switch to Kick, was the incredible contract worth it for the streamer and the streaming platform?
xQc is unquestionably one of the biggest streamers in the world. Once a professional Overwatch player for the Overwatch League’s Dallas Fuel, he left the scene after absorbing few bans and fines for misbehavior. While he at one point he offered an apology for his behaviors, he eventually chose to pivot a to full-time streaming career that would be much more forgiving, and that’s when xQc’s career really took off. Known for his amusing rants, hot takes, and FPS skills, xQc amassed over 12 million followers on Twitch by 2023.
This made it all the more shocking when xQc announced that year that he’d be streaming on what was then a brand new streaming platform, Kick, known at the time for its lax rules and a focus on gambling content.
xQc’s Kick contract was worth a total of $100 million. The deal by brokered by xQc’s agent, Ryan Morrison, the CEO of Evolved Talent Agency. It became the largest streaming deal of all time when it was signed, which garnered quite a bit of attention across the internet and beyond. Many wondered if the massive move would be worth it for either xQc, who was leaving a large established audience on Twitch, or for Kick, which was paying out big money for its newest streamer.
“Kick is allowing me to try and do things I haven’t been able to before,” said xQc in 2023. “It should have been a difficult conversation with every platform in the space throwing offers my way, but after speaking to Kick and the team behind it, the choice was obvious.”
It’s now been two years since xQc first joined Kick after signing his $100 million contract, and he now has amassed over 891,000 followers and counting. The streamer’s subscriber count isn’t publicly known.
On Twitch, where now again streams, xQc boasts 12.1 million followers, which is still quite a bit higher than his follower count on Kick. He also has 21,233 active subscribers on Twitch.
While many of his fans have followed him to Kick, not all of them did. But xQc seems to have remained positive about the move, and it has allowed him to pursue different types of streaming content that not have been available to him had he not made the move to Kick. Still, many wonder what his future looks like on the platform.
When xQc first announced his move to Kick, the platform saw significant growth as a result. The number of streamers and viewers increased significantly in the month that he arrived. The number of active streamers quadrupled and the number of hours watched increased by 44%. It was no secret that having xQc on board, along with other notable streamers such as Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa and Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, was a massive shot in the arm for Kick that immediately made its new investment seem at least potentially worthwhile.
It’s now been two years and Kick has largely defied expectations. While many in the streaming community felt that the platform would fail after its initial novelty wore off, Kick has tightened its guidelines and continued to push both popular streaming content and content types not found Twitch to remain relevant in the space.
The start of 2025 actually saw Kick’s best numbers since July 2023 when xQc made his splash debut. In January 2025, Kick had 281 million hours watched and reached over 400,000 average total viewers for the first time. This trend appears to be thanks to an influx of new streamers sponsored by platform owner Stake, with new creators flocking to Kick to stream gambling content.
While Kick has not reached the massive numbers that Twitch has as of 2025, it has cemented itself as a popular alternative for certain niches, especially those looking for gambling, slots, and betting streams. It definitely has xQc to thank for some of this success, as the massive streamer is known for his off-and-on gambling habits. Bringing his gambling content to Kick set a precedent and helped carve out a space for Kick that sets it apart from Twitch.
Despite not being profitable back in 2023, Kick is looking to be on a better track moving forward. The platform’s revenue isn’t public, but with streamers like Adin Ross boasting big monthly revenues, there’s definitely some traction.
All told, as great as the investment was, xQc’s streaming deal on Kick seems to have generally worked out for both the platform and the streamer. xQc has remained one of the biggest names in the streamer world while increasing his net worth, while Kick benefited from the streamer’s arrival and has continued growing since.
