Was Deme abused by her boyfriend?

Deme vtuber model

Demenishiki, better known as Deme, has shared the abuse that she experienced with her former boyfriend.

Deme is an indie vtuber with over 195,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 200,000 followers on Twitch. She debuted in September 2022, five months after her initial announcement.  The streamer describes herself as a “brainrot” streamer and has admitted ADHD. Her personality and ADHD have led to some truly chaotic streams, which propelled much of her popularity.

Although vtubers seem larger-than-life, they remain human behind the scenes. Deme’s personal life went through some struggles, particularly her relationships. The publicity of her connection with fellow streamer PSP1G attracted attention online.  When the two finally split, they had to make public announcements to quash inaccurate rumors. Recently, Deme revealed more details about the relationship that shed some light on her personal life.

Deme shared her experiences with an abusive ex-boyfriend

According to a tweet by Deme, she was physically and mentally abused in her former relationship. In December 2024, Deme released a tweet announcing her separation from PSP1G. In the tweet, Deme asked her audience to be respectful about the separation.

A week after the announcement, she tweeted “I’m free.” This tweet was received positively by her audience, though some had questions. Many asked what she was finally free from, with some concerned about her health given the situation.

Deme clarified what was happening in the relationship to explain the mysterious tweet. She had to deal with things being broken and thrown when he got angry.  As his girlfriend, he also dealt with verbal assault and constant lying. The streamer concluded that she wanted to move on, and her friends would help her through the trauma.

PSP1G corroborated Deme’s tweets. According to him, he tried to commit suicide but was stopped by Deme. The incident unfortunately led to her getting accidentally slashed in the leg, which dismayed both streamers.

He proclaimed his love for the streamer and confessed to trying to end his life multiple times after the incident. PSP1G ended his story with a promise to leave the internet forever. PSP1G did not clarify the reason, but given the extreme situation, many believe it’s to give himself and Deme the space to heal.

When such personal things are shared, fans take it upon themselves to support their favorite talents through some of their toughest trials.  Deme’s situation reminded some fans of the publicly toxic relationship between vtuber Mikeneko (formerly Uruha Rushia of Hololive) and singer MafuMafu.  These stories highlight how little the average viewer knows about their favorite talents.

Deme’s allegations of abuse resonate deeply, much like the horrifying abuse story from vtuber Froot.
