Vtuber Iroha Kazama announces another hiatus, here’s why

Hololive’s Iroha Kazama has let fans know that she’s going on a hiatus, and it appears that her ongoing health concerns are the reason why.

Iroha Kazama is a hugely popular virtual YouTuber who has been streaming since 2021. She currently boasts over 1 million followers, and she first debuted alongside Samantha Chole, who graduated from the agency in January. 2024 was a hectic year for Iroha Kazama, as she went on hiatuses multiple times for varying reasons. The vtuber returned from her most recent hiatus in December, and her fans are in for another jolt already.

On March 10, Iroha Kazama announced that she would be going on a new hiatus, surprising fans who thought the vtuber had returned for good.

Why is Iroha Kazama going on hiatus?

Iroha Kazama informed fans that she’s still struggling to speak because of psychogenic aphonia and has to take another hiatus so that she can properly recover.

Vtuber Iroha Kazama took time off from streaming in late 2024 because of severe health issues related to her throat. Her manager was handling her posts while Iroha was at the hospital, trying to recover as best she could. She returned in December to the great delight of fans, who hoped that she’d been able to fully heal during her time away. That unfortunately isn’t the case, as Iroha’s latest break is for the same reason.

In her tweet, Iroha expressed appreciation for all of the support she received from fans and expressed her delight at having been able to perform at the HoloX 3rd anniversary live concert. The content creator explained that she was waiting for the events to end. After this, she consulted with her doctor about continuing her activities. Iroha stated she would be ceasing live broadcasts, SNS posts, and any operations that require her to use her voice.

Pre-recorded content, short video submissions, and other activities that don’t require her voice, like dancing, will continue in the meantime. Iroha elaborated that she would continuously consult with her doctor to ensure she didn’t overexert herself. She wants to prioritize her recovery, which even her forlorn fans agree is likely for the best.

When will Iroha Kazama return to streaming?

Iroha Kazama stated that she plans to resume her streaming operations fully by May 2025.

While Iroha mentioned a time for her return to normal streaming activities, she may postpone that return date if she doesn’t fully recover. The vtuber’s throat issues are apparently recurring, and it’s important that she focuses on full recovering to avoid any unnecessary and longer-term complications. Iroha’s return date is tentative and depends on how soon her health recovers and improves.
