Vtuber Bao, also known Bao the Whale, is a Twitch streamer who also posts IRL content on YouTube, but her recent videos have landed her in hot waters.
Bao is a faceless vtuber who has been sharing content from her streams on YouTube, where she has amassed 745,000 subscribers. While most of her older content on YouTube features her vtuber avatar, she has recently started appearing with a mask in entertaining videos and roasts. However, her latest content keeps landing her in YouTube’s bad books. Most recently, vtuber Bao collaborated with Twitch streamer and conservationist Maya Higa.
The video of her meeting animals was an instant hit among the fans, but YouTube has now paused ad revenue on the collaboration.
Taking to X, vtuber Bao revealed that YouTube has demonetized three of her videos in a row based on what seems like a bot review. According to the streamer, the platform paused revenue on her best work citing adult content over an innocent video of animals.
During her visit to the zoo with Maya Higa, Bao met a few foxes whom she tried petting like you would a dog. To warn her off, Maya told her that foxes “don’t want to be touched,” a line that got flagged as adult. But YouTube claims it was banned based on a review of a human.
“[This was said] in the context of educating people on why you shouldn’t own foxes as domestic pets. Manually reviewed too BTW,” said Bao.
Bao mentioned that two more of her videos have faced the same issue even though they don’t contain any adult content. YouTube has acknowledged her concerns and assured her that it will re-review the videos, but it might take a bit of time.
Bao the Whale is a vtuber and a virtual content creator who streams and produces videos on various platforms including YouTube and TikTok.
Bao has previously produced music under the name Hikaru Station and continues to share her work on Twitch, where she has 548,000 followers. She’s famous for her music and gacha game streams, but new fans may know her from IRL YouTube content.
