VShojo is adding a new vtuber to its star-studded roster, and she has a recognizable face: the Mafia Monarch, also known as AmaLee.
VShojo is a major name in the virtual entertainment industry. The company has contracts with popular entertainers including Ironmouse and Projekt Melody, and past names include major stars the likes of Nyanners. Over the past week, VShojo has been teasing the arrival of a new vtuber with the hashtag #MafiaDebut and video clips featuring a ticking clock, blue flames, and a sealed envelope marked with a V. Fans have spent their time speculating as to whether the vtuber would be an established name or a brand new IP.
On January 26, VShojo finally introduced veteran vtuber Amanda “AmaLee” Lee, aka the Mafia Monarch, as the newest member of its roster of vtubers.
As the latest member of VShojo, AmaLee joins as the villainous vtuber Mafia Monarch.
The Mafia Monarch is AmaLee’s fourth iteration of Monarch, Queen of the Multiverse, and her seventh avatar total. All of her Monarch avatars feature her silvery-blue hair and signature wit. In her Mafia Monarch persona, AmaLee features a butterfly bralette, a sidepiece, and a halo. She also has removable coats and glasses, and AmaLee even mentioned a nude version of her avatar existing somewhere. The streamer commissioned three different backgrounds, one as her mafia office with other VShojo vtubers as plushies and the other as her greenhouse. The third unfortunately glitched out during the debut, but will be seen at a later date.
Additionally, the vtuber shared a snippet of her latest original song called “Here Me Out.” It is about her “one true husband,” the Bracken, and was produced by the same team that previously helped with Siren. The full song will debut in early February.
AmaLee expressed her glee on stream that very few people guessed that she would be the newest VShojo member. She added that the marketing team even added blue lighting to some of the teaser videos to help lead fans to her. Additionally, the three teacups seen in the video was a callback to the Monarch 1.o model and the blaring sirens a reference to the Siren model.
According to the vtuber, her new partnership with VShojo has been in the works for close to a year and a half. Unlike most others, she didn’t go through the traditional audition process and instead worked with the company directly. With so much secrecy surrounding her arrival, AmaLee almost spoiled her new model earlier in the day by accidentally launching for 10 seconds, but the surprise was ultimately kept under wraps until her debut time.
AmaLee is a singer and voice actress best known for anime and video game song covers in English, as well as her vtuber persona Monarch, Queen of the Multiverse.
In her nearly two decades of creating content, AmaLee has a plethora of music credits to her name. She released her first album, “Nostalgia,” in 2017 with English covers of popular anime and video game songs. Since then, she’s released six other cover albums as well as her own original album, “Rise of the Monarch,” in 2022. AmaLee added in her VShojo debut video that she hopes the partnership will give her more time to work on her art.
In addition, AmaLee has additionally done voice acting work for television and video games. Major voice credits include Lillie in the Pokemon Evolutions television show and Jingliu in Honkai: Star Rail. Under the handle LeeandLie, she has over 2.3 million followers on YouTube and 450,000 followers on Twitch. Moving forward, the streamer will be exclusively going by AmaLee despite introducing herself as the Mafia Monarch. She clarified that she hopes to simplify all of her monikers into one unified brand moving forward.
There is certainly much to look forward to for fans of both AmaLee and VShojo from the new partnership. Fans can expect AmaLee streaming on Twitch and potentially releasing new music very soon.
