Team Vitality is stomping the competition and Wildcard is set to be its first victim at BLAST Rivals Spring, making this a tough match to bet on.
Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and company have been on an absolute tear in Counter-Strike. The team has stormed through the competition, amassing a 21-match winning streak that has won them four straight tournaments. Just as important, the team took home the Intel Grand Slam award by beating Team Falcons to win IEM Melbourne.
So what kind of chance does Wildcard have?
Team Vitality and Wildcard will face off in a best-of-three match in the first round of BLAST Rivals Spring’s group stage on April 30, 2025. There are two groups with four teams each. The top team advances directly to the semifinals, while second and third place start in the quarterfinals. Last place is eliminated.
Team Vitality has been on an epic run in 2025. The team has won four straight tournaments and took the fourth Intel Grand Slam prize by winning IEM Melbourne. The team is set for a quick turnaround when competing in BLAST Rivals Spring, going from Europe to Australia and back for rapid-fire competition.
The full Vitality roster is set to compete in this event:
Vitality has been almost untouchable in 2025 and that can only happen by being really good across every map. The team has a winrate over 66% on all six maps it plays, with Anubis being its “worst” where it has gone 6-3. The team bans Ancient whenever possible.
Wildcard has had a rocky 2025 thus far. Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa’s team has sputtered in international tournaments, washing out early from IEM Katowice and PGL Cluj-Napoca while posting most of its official matches in qualifiers.
The Wildcard roster remains intact despite a hectic time for roster changes:
Over the last six months, Wildcard has actively looked to bring teams to Nuke and Inferno. That’s been a winning strategy as the team has a 73% and 70% winrate on either map. Past that, the team is roughly 50-50 everywhere else, though it has played on Mirage and Train sparingly.
Vitality and Wildcard have not played against each other in Counter-Strike 2 yet. While the teams have been in some of the same events together, they haven’t been matched against each other yet.
Vitality is a prohibitive favorite in this match. The moneylines are an absurd 1.02 against 15.6. That’s a bit extreme, but the bookies aren’t going nuts here, given how strong Vitality has looked.
Vitality should be able to defeat Wildcard with little trouble. While Wildcard is a credible team and North American Counter-Strike has been posting better-than-expected results, Vitality has been reluctant to give up maps, never even mind series.
