Esports organization Virtus.pro has announced it has moved the team’s IGL and biggest name, Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, to its bench effective immediately.
electroNic is a skilled Counter-Strike player who has secured numerous big wins throughout his career, showcasing his talent along the wya. The CS2 player has competed and also won in various top tournaments, including PGL Major Stockholm 2021, the BLAST Premier Global Final in 2020, and the BLAST Premier World Final in 2021.
electroNic moved to Virtus.pro in 2024 in a blockbuster transfer from Cloud9. The team was hopeful that the star player’s addition would help it to reach new levels of success. While electroNic has strived to live up to those expectations, the former Major champion was ultimately unable to help Virtus.pro win any significant trophies, and the team has removed him from its starting roster.
Virtus.pro may have hoped electroNic would help its CS2 team win big tournaments, but the team’s IGL failed to come through as pressure mounted and fans begin to question whether the player was still capable of leading a winning roster at the game’s top level.
electroNic’s removal from Virtus.pro’s active roster could have been planned for some time, or it may be related to the team facing a quick exit from BLAST Open London after losing to a team ranked 30th on the official Valve leaderboard. North American side M80 defeated Virtus.pro at BLAST Open London, seeing the Russian team off in last place. Vitrus.pro then soon announced the removal of electroNic, mere hours after the disappointing loss at the hands of M80.

electroNic’s IGL run with Virtus.pro has been underwhelming, with the player and team suffering frustrating eliminations at multiple events. These include FISSURE Playground #1, where the team also got last place, BLAST Bounty Season 2, and the 2025 Esports World Cup. The team’s at BLAST Open London may have been the last straw.
Virtus.pro CEO Nikolai Petrossian called electroNic is “an exceptional CS2 player,” but said that he ultimately wasn’t the right fit for the team. Petrossian said that electroNic and the team worked hard together, but couldn’t secure any wins at the prestigious tournaments they’d targeted. He thanked electroNic for taking part in the teams’ journey and also for taking on the role of the team’s captaincy after Dzhami “Jame” Ali was benched previously.
electroNic has joined Timur “FL4MUS” Marev and David “n0rb3r7” Danielyan on that bench for VP, and it remains unconfirmed who he’ll be replaced by. The Virtus.pro organization said that it would reveal the name of the team’s new fifth CS2 player “soon.”
Virtus.pro will next be seen at FISSURE Playground 2, which is expected to start on September 12. This means a new player will need to be brought on in short order.
