Season 4 of Premier is here, together with gameplay and sound updates and, of course, the revamped Anubis.
Valve decided to make changes to the map after removing it from the competitive map pool in July 2025 in favor of Overpass.
Here’s what changed on the returning map.

The majority of players’ main gripe with Anubis was that it was too one-sided. To combat that, Valve made several changes to the map, the biggest one being in mid.
Firstly, the mid drop was moved from the bridge to the double door area. This change makes it much more accessible for CTs to peek canals and will surely result in way more early-round gunfights.
While on paper, this change is more advantageous to the CTs, it will now be easier for Ts to boost up into mid from canals and control the rotations in late round scenarios. It will be interesting to see how the top CS2 teams adapt to the new layout.
Additionally, the position of the double doors has been flipped, so that now CT’s have a longer angle into mid. As a result, the typical mid-molly thrown by terrorists to clear out the right side of mid will not cover the double doors, making it harder to take map control.
These two changes should make it easier for Counter-Terrorists to control mid and keep tabs on their opponents’ rotation in canals. We will see if that’s the case at the upcoming IEM Kraków 2026.

E-box was one of the most contested spots on Anubis before the update, and it will likely remain that way. However, thanks to the new changes, there are several more ways to take control of that part of the map.
A small window has been added at the top of e-box, looking over the platform on the B site. Ts will now be able to molly platform without having to peek out wide, risking their lives.
At the same time, CTs will now have an easier time controlling that part of the map without playing directly in e-box. Also, A site players rotating to the B site will have more possibilities during the retake.
So while being able to throw nades from e-box during the execute is sweet for the Ts, the change is probably a net benefit for the defending team, albeit not by much.

Moving up the site box doesn’t stand out as a big change, but A should now be much easier to hold and retake for the CTs.
Firstly, the position of the box now gives cover to CTs coming out of connector into the site from an AWPer standing on platform. That was one of the strongest post plant positions on the previous version of the map.
Secondly, it leaves the Ts on the site without much cover and fewer post plant positions to choose from. This will force the Ts to either be more aggressive and push up into CT or play passively back in A main.
In any case, A site won’t be so easy to take on the revamped Anubis, at least in theory. We will get to see the new meta play out in practice in the upcoming CS2 tournaments.
