After integrating esports into Valorant through in-game VCT cosmetics, Riot is now encouraging players to support their teams through Valorant Pick ‘Ems.
Esports is a big part of Valorant, and Riot makes a note of drawing its competitive player base to watching the VCT. Riot previously achieved this by introducing team-themed cosmetics into the game. Now, however, players will also be able to gain rewards by showing their support for their favorite teams.
For Valorant Champion’s Seoul group stage, players will have the option to predict the outcomes of matches and tournament stages. Valorant Pick ‘Ems will be available both in-game and on the web.
Starting July 26 in Valorant patch 9.01, players will be able to predict the advancing teams in VCT Seoul for points earning extra points for correctly guessing the exact placement according to leaks.
The 2024 Valorant Champions will mark the tournament’s fourth iteration. This will be the inaugural event to take place in Asia following previous locations in Berlin, Istanbul, and Los Angeles. For this event, Riot is introducing a Counter-Strike-style esports prediction system which would likely benefit both teams and the players.
So far, leakers have only discovered the following information about Pick ‘Ems.
However, it’s unknown who will be eligible for rewards or if Pick ‘Ems will be available for those who buy a subscription. If that’s the case, then teams may gain a share of the money earned from Pick ‘Em subscriptions. Those who purchased it may win exclusive rewards for playing Valorant during the duration of VCT Seoul whether their predictions hit the mark or not. Rewards for correct predictions would be more valuable and rare if leaks are to be believed.
It’s important to keep in mind that this feature will still be in beta during the tournament, so it won’t be perfect. More information will probably be released soon on Riot’s official channel and in-game.
While Valorant fans anticipate VCT Pick ‘Ems, take a look at the current standings of the Worlds 2022 Pick’Em Crystal Ball to see how predictions are faring.
