Utility is getting a major buff in legibility in Valorant patch 11.07, with clear pointers on the in-game minimap arriving that may help players to better read the game and communicate mid-round.
There are now 28 agents in Valorant, all of them equipped with a distinct set of abilities. Understandably, visual clutter is unavoidable. Developer Riot Games has designed each ability to ensure that the playing field remains as clearly legible as possible, minimizing hindrance to gameplay. But reading multiple agent abilities at the same time can still be confusing in a fast-paced, competitive game like Valorant.
To resolve this issue, Riot has now implemented some new minimap updates to make it easier for teammates to identify active utility.
After patch 11.07, all redeployable abilities now feature a distinctive teal highlight, making them easier to identify. This change affects such agents as Chamber, Killjoy, Vyse, and Yoru. Meanwhile, controllable utility and drones now display a directional arrow to show which way they’re facing.

Both changes are significant upgrades that will have the biggest impact at lower level of play. While pros already have sharp map awareness, minimap clutter can easily overwhelm the average player. The new teal highlight for redeployable abilities can help anchors quickly judge when it’s safe to rotate without relying on constant voice updates from teammates.
For example, Killjoy’s Nanoswarm comes in handy for blocking a B-site push on Ascent. If the agent rotates and takes her Nanoswarm with her, the teal highlight instantly reflects that change. Site anchors can see that the ability is gone and adjust their setup and positioning accordingly, making site rotations faster and safer.
New Valorant players are often confused by inconsistent visuals. This color unification gives clearer context for what’s happening, which is huge for onboarding those new players more smoothly.
Directional arrows for controllable abilities is also a huge buff, especially given how often players misread where Skye’s Prowler was actually heading. Again, a player above Immortal may be able to read it without aid, but arrows will help newcomers to quickly build a muscle memory without getting punished by enemies waiting in choke points or drones flying right past their targets.

With the addition of a new agent every other episode, updates like these are no longer just welcomed, but are necessary. Old-timers might not appreciate them as much, but new players already struggle to learn a roster of 28 agents and counting. These clarity updates trim that complexity, helping new players understand what’s happening without feeling completely overwhelmed.
