Players have long been asking for a gifting feature in Valorant, and leaks seem to indicate that Riot has finally listened.
Although they do not directly impact gameplay, weapon skins have become an integral part of Valorant. Each premium bundle features its own lore and theme, with some even linked to the backstories of the agents. For example, the Reaver skin is often associated with Omen’s dark past. Unfortunately, some of them are too pricey for an average Valorant player. Since there’s no other way to own a skin besides directly buying it, players are often left watching their dream skins float by, just out of reach. Friends and duos couldn’t help each other with their purchases since sharing and gifting doesn’t exist in Valorant.
But that may change soon, according to a Valorant gifting leak.
Valorant does not have a gifting system, but leaks in late 2024 point at an imminent release.
Datamined files indicate the tactical shooter will soon get its own gifting system. This will include two types of gifting with players able to gift specific content or gift an entire skin bundle.
According to the leaker, an icon for a gifting system has been discovered in Valorant files. Shaped like a simple gift box, it hints at a new feature for sharing in-game content. The leak suggests two forms of gifting will be available, allowing players to send items beyond standard bundles. This could include Radianite Points, player cards, gun buddies, name titles, and other unique cosmetics, expanding players’ options for sharing items in-game.
Currently, a gifting system exists in League of Legends, which suggests that Valorant’s system could be similar. If that’s the case, players may need to reach a certain level before they can gift a skin to their duo. In League, a player must be level ten to be eligible for skin-sharing.
So far, player responses have been positive since Valorant is best played with friends, and players often want to share matching skins with an in-game duo. With the gifting system, it’ll be possible to send pricey skins to friends who may not be able to afford them.
Release date for Valorant gifting system is unknown, but according to the leak, it’s currently under development.
