Twitch vs Kick: Which is better for vtubers?

Kick Twitch vtubers

With alleged unfair bans being imposed by Twitch, some vtubers are looking for alternatives and wonder whether Kick is worth shifting to.

Recently, many vtubers have been getting banned on Twitch for seemingly no reason. Some virtual YouTubers claim that the platform discriminates against them. Twitch’s CEO Dan Clancy weighed in and talked about the controversy. Furthermore, the platform’s rules were updated to impose certain restrictions on vtubers. However, even after that, some vtubers claimed that nothing had changed. Due to this, many vtubers have started to maintain YouTube channels in case of a ban. Not many virtual YouTubers have completely migrated from Twitch but a vtuber group has started to stream on Kick.

The elf vtuber news reporter Elara interviewed Aurora and Louve, members of Vdoki, the first group of vtubers on Kick to find out how it fares against Twitch.

Why did Aurora and Louve move to Kick?

Aurora stated she moved to Kick because she also faced moderation on Twitch like vtubers are facing right now and she finds the newer platform better.

The three vtubers started their discussion by explaining why YouTube isn’t the correct platform for vtubers. The vtubers agreed that their content is live-streamed and YouTube has more prerecorded videos.

When the talk about Kick started Louve gave her own example and explained why she moved from Twitch to Kick. The vtuber stated that she was new in the industry and just starting her career on Kick helped her be noticed. She said that Twitch is a bigger platform with many more streamers so it’s harder to be noticed there.

Aurora also further explained Louve’s point by stating that while Kick has grown the platform still isn’t saturated. She stated that in comparison to Twitch, vtubers are more visible on Kick. Furthermore, she elaborated that there is an individual vtuber category that viewers can go to and see vtubers.

Louve also stated that on Kick there is no fear among vtuber. They know no new rules will be introduced targeting them like how Twitch is discriminating against them. She gave the example of the double policies of Twitch where hot tub categories are safe, but vtubers are banned for various inappropriate attire reasons.

Is Kick moderation better than Twitch?

The two vtubers stated that Kick takes moderation more seriously than Twitch and gives a valid reason behind infractions.

Both Aurora and Louve agreed that Kick is similar to Twitch and vtubers won’t feel out of place. Louve also stated that Kick has made some changes and vtubers are feeling the love. Vtubers are displayed on the front carousel of Kick regardless of whether they’re big or small in terms of fan base.

Louve praised Aurora for advocating for vtubers. In addition, she also praised Kick for being receptive to all the things Aurora is sharing. She stated this is one of the biggest differences between Twitch and Kick. Furthermore, the vtubers both expressed that the Kick staff is very helpful and vtubers aren’t subjected to the strict rules like on Twitch.

The two vtubers raised some good points and explained why they think Kick is better for vtubers than Twitch. However, a platform shift is an important decision that vtubers must consider. If Twitch continues targeting vtubers, fans might see more of their favorite content creators shift platforms.
