South Korean streamer Yoo “Jinny” Yoonjin has informed her fans that Taiwan has banned her, and that she only found out after she was denied entry into the country.
Jinny is a popular streamer who started her career in 2017 by livestreaming gaming and educational content on Twitch. After gaining popularity there, Jinny sought to make her content more engaging for her audience. She streamed herself exploring Taiwan for 42 days.
This was a deviation from what most streamers do as Jinny’s stream literally revolved around her walking about the outside world rather than streaming from an at-home studio environment, but this didn’t stop her from continuing to gain followers. She currently boasts over a million followers on Twitch. But Jinny has now shocked fans by announcing that she had been banned from Taiwan.
Jinny claimed that the last time she tried to visit Taiwan, she wasn’t allowed entry and was instead deported from the country.
During a Twitch stream, Jinny explained that authorities in Taiwan took action against her because she had worked in the country without a proper work permit. The streamer claimed that it wasn’t her fault as the company she’d worked for didn’t get her a work visa. Jinny clarified that it was just a one-day appearance she’d made, and that she hadn’t been working for an extended period of time without a work visa. The Taiwan labor enforcement still deemed the violation serious enough that Jinny was subsequently barred entry from Taiwan for a period of three years.
Jinny claims that she tried to appeal the ban but that the Labor Department rejected her attempt. They believed the streamer should have verified her documentation before engaging in her work activity, even though it only lasted for a short time. The content creator went on to say that she wasn’t even notified that she was banned from re-entering the country when she left. She claimed that she found out when she was traveling back to Taiwan only to find that she wasn’t allowed to enter.
Jinny argued that she should have been warned prior to her attempted entry that she wouldn’t be able to enter the country. She elaborated by saying that not notifying her caused her to waste time and money even though the authorities had her phone number and email address available if they’d wished to make clear to her the that she was banned. The streamer stated it would have been easy to let her know she wasn’t allowed into the country, but that wasn’t enough to motivate authorities in Taiwan to do so.
This isn’t the first time Jinny has had a run-in with a country’s immigration officials. In March 2025, the streamer claimed she was harassed by a US customs visa officer while traveling. She alleged that the officer asked her inappropriate questions when she was entering the United States.
