Twitch finally bans RaKai after stream outrage

RaKai Twitch ban

Twitch received much backlash after it initially failed to take action against streamer RaKai for a rule violation live on stream, and the platform has now banned him after being called out by both viewers and other streamers.

RaKai is a popular streamer who boasts more than 1.4 million followers on Twitch. The streamer is famous for his engaging content, and even though he’s only 16 years old his popularity is already immense. He has collaborated with multiple other popular streaming personalities, most notably Kai Cenat.

RaKai was recently in the news because of something reckless he did during a stream. His actions went against Twitch’s guidelines, and were also dangerous for himself and others. Twitch banned RaKai on June 17m but not everyone is happy that the platform took so long to take action against the streamer.

Why was RaKai banned from Twitch?

Streamer RaKai was likely banned from Twitch because the 16-year-old streamer streamed himself recklessly driving while being distracted by his phone.

Twitch and RaKai haven’t disclosed the exact reason or duration of the ban, which is typical. However, it’s almost guaranteed that Twitch banned RaKai because of a recent stream that caused massive backlash towards both parties. RaKai was involved in reckless driving during said stream. The streamer took his phone into his hands while driving and had to swerve his car to return to his driving lane after being so distracted.

Rakai Twitch ban

Clips of the stream went viral almost immediately after RaKai was caught looking at his phone for too long and being distracted from the road. Viewers began to call out Twitch and claimed the streamer needed to be banned. The platform recently added specific enforcement notes to its reckless driving rules, and RaKai was visibly in violation of those rules.

Multiple popular streamers started to make fun of the situation when RaKai remained unbanned for more than 24 hours. Some fans claimed RaKai would have been banned instantly if he wasn’t so close to Twitch’s popular streamer Kai Cenat.

The streamer returned to streaming after the incident and claimed he wasn’t streaming because Twitch was investigating the incident. He thanked Twitch for not banning him and blamed users on social media for, according to him, blowing the whole thing out of proportion.

Despite his thanking the platform publicly for it not banning him, Twitch did eventually level a ban against RaKai, and many fans expressed relief at his facing consequences for his actions.

While Twitch did take action against RaKai, some still aren’t satisfied with it or with the platform’s general response. They believe the platform would have ignored the rule violation if users hadn’t created such significant outrage. Some are even speculating that Twitch may have only given the streamer a slap on the wrist and that his temporary ban may last only one to three days, despite the apparent severity of his actions.
