Independent vtuber Saruei has had her Twitch channel banned for the fifth time, leaving her fans to wonder whether it may be a permanent ban this time.
Rael, more popularly known by her streamer name Saruei, is a French independent vtuber and artist. Saruei started her career with art streams and officially debuted as a vtuber in 2021. She’s famous for her ASMR streams and an outspoken personality that viewers enjoy when she chats with them.
During her career, Saruei has butted heads with Twitch multiple times and has had her channel banned four times as a consequence. On January 26, Twitch banned Saruei from the platform for the fifth time, leaving fans confused about what she did.
Twitch delievered a fifth ban to Saruei because she allegedly live-streamed an explicit modded scene from PlayStation 4 game Bloodborne.
Saruei hasn’t issued a statement clarifying to her fans why her channel was banned, so there is not yet any official confirmation. On January 26, the vtuber tweeted that she was receiving DMCA strikes on her Bloodborne VODs because of copyrighted music. Her Twitch channel’s suspension might be linked to the game as well.
An X user shared a clip that allegedly led Twitch to ban Saruei. In the video, the streamer is playing Bloodborne and the particular scene has two characters engaged in sexual activity. Bloodborne doesn’t have the aforementioned scene by default, as the streamer was using a mod that added it to the game. Sarui didn’t confirm whether this was the reason for her ban but she has shared the same clip on her X account.
Twitch is clear in its guidelines about not allowing games containing nudity or sex as a core focus. Streamers are prohibited from focusing on sexual themes in the games they play that are otherwise allowed on the platform, and using this mod to add the sex scene may have taken things a step too far for the streaming platform.
Opening Sarui’s channel displays that it is temporarily unavailable, suggesting that the vtuber will likely return to Twitch and that her latest ban isn’t permanent.
Saruei retweeted a Tweet made by the StreamerBans account acknowledging that her channel was suspended, but didn’t detail to her viewers anything further about it. The exact duration of the ban is unclear, but based on the vtuber’s ban history she could be banned for a minimum of 20 hours or a maximum of 3 days. If Twitch follows the same pattern Saruei might return shortly, but there’s also a chance that the vtuber may see a longer ban duration because of her repeated offenses.
