Twitch has banned HasanAbi for the fifth time, here’s why

Controversial streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker has been banned from Twitch, and viewers want to know what he did to warrant this latest punishment from the platform.

Hasan is one of the most prominent streamers in the industry right now, and he is in the limelight regularly for his outspoken nature and occasionally sensitive content. The streamer has butted heads with other content creators and Twitch even warned him for showing a clip on stream that went against the platform’s terms of service. Despite that, the streamer continued to stream his brand of content.

Many content creators and viewers began to speculate that Twitch was letting Hasan stream unchecked even while other streamers have been banned from the platform for seemingly lesser offenses. That changed on March 3 as Twitch banned Hasan from the platform. Now, viewers want to know exactly which action led to him finally being banned from the platform.

Why did Twitch ban HasanAbi?

HasanAbi apparently received a ban from Twitch for inciting violence against a United States senator while on stream, which is against Twitch guidelines. 

Neither Twitch nor Hasan have commented on the ban, so there is no official report on why the streamer was banned. But that’s not to say there isn’t any information on what may have led to the streamer being banned from the platform.

A viewer shared a clip on X in which Hasan is seen talking about medicare fraud. In the clip, the streamer says, “If you hate medicare fraud, you should want to kill Rick Scott.”  Scott is a standing senator in the United States senate. This sort of talk and potential encouragement of violence isn’t allowed on Twitch and is a bannable offense.

Many viewers have claimed that the streamer wasn’t inciting violence and that he was just being hyperbolic. Others have commended Twitch for finally banning Hasan and have requested that the platform make the ban permanent. Regardless of Hasan’s intention, even suggesting such violence against someone as a joke is against Twitch’s terms of service. So this clip may indeed be why the streamer has been banned from the platform.

It’s unclear how long Hasan will be gone from Twitch, but opening his channel displays that the ban is temporary. This isn’t the first time Hasan has been banned from the platform. His previous Twitch suspensions have ranged from a low of one day to a high of one week. If Twitch follows the same pattern, Hasan might return to streaming on Twitch in seven days or even sooner.
