Twistzz to leave Team Liquid CS2 roster, joins FaZe Clan

Team Liquid has announced that Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken will leave the team’s CS2 roster in a move that has shocked fans of the renowned esports organization as he returns to FaZe Clan.

Twistzz is one of the most accomplished North American Counter-Strike players in modern CS history, having put his skills on display many times over the course of an illustrious career. He has won numerous trophies over the years, including the Intel Grand Slam and a Major at PGL Antwerp. Twistzz returned to Team Liquid after spending time with FaZe Clan, but it looks like the player is now headed to yet another team following a disappointing run of play.

When will Twistzz leave Liquid?

Team Liquid announced that Twistzz will depart its CS2 roster after the conclusion of the upcoming FISSURE Playground 2 tournament.

In a tweet, Team Liquid announced that after two years spent grinding with TL, Twistzz is now transferring away from its CS2 roster. The team thanked the Canadian player for his flexibility and the great effort he gave while playing with the organization. It’s unconfirmed at the time of this writing which team Twistzz is transferring to, leaving fans scrambling as to what might come next for one of the biggest names in Counter-Strike 2.

Twistzz left Team Liquid for the first time in 2020 because of issues with the side’s roster and his desire to try playing in Europe. He moved on to FaZe Clan and found meaningful success there, but he eventually returned to his old team. Twistzz achieved much success during his initial run with Team Liquid as well, which began in 2017 and lasted until that first departure in 2020. He was unable to replicate that level of play upon his return to Liquid in 2024, even after taking on the roles of the squad’s IGL.

Team Liquid saw decent results under the leadership of Twistzz, including a top-eight finish at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, but he ultimately struggled in the role and Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek was later brought in as a replacement.

Despite some positive moments and results, TL has generally been unable to perform sufficiently to meet fan expectations over the past year with Twistzz and even missed out on an invite to the StarLadder Budapest Major. He will now last be seen as part of Team Liquid during a match against GamerLegion at FISSURE Playground 2.

Shortly after the announcement that Twistzz was departing TL, it was announced that the Canadian CS2 star would be moving back to FaZe Clan once more, making this the second time he has left Liquid’s roster to join FaZe.

Team Liquid’s roster after  FISSURE Playground 2:

  • Keith “NAF” Markovic
  • Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak
  • Guy “NertZ” Iluz
  • Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek
  • Viktor “flashie” Tamás Bea (Coach)
