Twistzz reveals personal letter about joining Team Liquid

Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken is heading into the action with Team Liquid at Perfect World Shanghai 2024. In a recent stream, he revealed his thoughts on the move in a personal letter.

About a year ago, Twistzz was contemplating what team to sign with as his contract with FaZe Clan ended. Twistzz ultimately chose to sign with Team Liquid, calling it a “big stepping stone” in his career. The support player initially had good results with the team and their synergy was on display during ESL Pro League Season 5. Unfortunately for Twistzz, he started to feel anxious in 2024 when the team began to have underwhelming results.

Despite the struggles, Twistzz has stood firmly as a pillar of Team Liquid. With his legendary record, Twistzz easily joins the ranks of the best North American CS2 players. The esports icon boasts multiple wins at S-tier tournaments such as the Intel Grand Slam and the PGL major. For all of his talents, the esports pro remains humble about his insecurities.

Twistzz letter to himself shares uncertainty about esports career

Ahead of the Perfect World Shanghai major, Twistzz read to his fans a short letter he wrote for himself a year ago. The letter read: “Hey, I hope you’re happy with whatever you’ve decided in life.” Though short, the letter gave Twistzz plenty to think about. He explained the meaning of the letter to his fans. As the CS2 player started to talk about the past year of his esports career, fans started to wonder if he regretted signing with Team Liquid.

“Four months ago, I would have said, ‘What did I do?’” Twistzz said in regards to answering his short letter. “Liquid was not in a good spot. Things were a bit shaky.”

Around that time, Twistzz admitted that he contemplated leaving Team Liquid. He talked with his wife “constantly” about the future of his esports career. In the end, he chose to stay with Team Liquid and stated he doesn’t regret it. According to Twistzz, he can now say he’s happy with going to Shanghai. While Team Liquid hasn’t always performed optimally, Twistzz said that he has good memories with the organization.  Even so, fans of Twistzz hope he can grab more wins in the next pro season.

Some fans on social media felt conflicted about Twistzz’s reflections. They speculated that he seemed unhappy with his choice to be a part of Team Liquid. Some also felt that Team Liquid should have dropped him themselves. Regardless of fan feelings, both Twistzz and the org have not broken ties. The results of Perfect World Shanghai could give them a better idea of where to take things.
