Season 2 World Champion Lau ‘Kurtis’ “Toyz” Wai Kin has been arrested under suspicion of drug trafficking on Sept. 29, 2021, according to several reports from Taiwanese media.

According to Taiwan English News’ report, the arrest occurred after police searched Toyz’s home, after the Taichung District’s Prosecutor Office issued a search warrant on Sept. 28.

Jaxon looked into the charges laid against Toyz if he is found guilty of trafficking marijuana, a Category 2 drug under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act, Apparently, the player risks imprisonment for at least 10 years, according to Articles 4 and 5 of the act. If he is found possessing the drug with intent to sell, the minimum jail sentence would be five years instead.

Since winning the World Championship in Season 2, Toyz has been a mainstay in the Taiwanese League of Legends scene—as a player, manager, coach, and streamer/YouTuber in recent times. The content creator also secured sponsorships throughout the years, some of which are in effect to date.

After retiring in June 2013 due to injury, he returned to the LMS in 2015 on Hong Kong Esports (since rebranded to HK Attitude), before turning inactive due to conflicts with the team.
