Austrian support player Tobias “Tobi” Buchner has parted ways with Nigma Galaxy’s Dota 2 team after a trial period with the Emirati organization.
The European journeyman player had been a part of the roster since October, and played with the team for four tournaments before his departure. News of the roster shift was posted across Nigma Galaxy socials on Dec. 3.
Tobi has been a super-sub for many European Dota 2 teams since his last full roster spot with Entity in 2023, competing for Nemesis Curse, Tundra Esports, Team Secret, Night Pulse, L1GA TEAM, MOUZ, and Team Liquid during that time.
This latest stint with Nigma Galaxy looked hopeful, with a decent fourth-place finish to FISSURE Universe: Episode 7. However, just two months later, Tobi is again looking for a team.
Team Nigma itself has not had much to celebrate in the past few months. At the tail end of 2024, founder Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi stepped down from playing duties to focus on coaching the team.

The organization had struggled for top-flight success for years, and at TI15, things seemed to be turning around, with the organization finishing in 5th-6th place, a significant step up from past performances. However, since then, the team has somewhat regressed.
The organization also has multiple inactive members, including Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi and Maroun “GH” Merhej.
Some speculate that with Tobi out, GH might be back in the starting roster, especially with Nigma Galaxy heading to DreamLeague Season 27 in just seven days.
Last month, Nigma Galaxy announced the UFC’s Khamzat Chimaev as brand ambassador. With the partnership Chimaev, an Emirati citizen, will spearhead initiatives across the Nigma Galaxy Academy.
