Chickens are old news. Counter-Strike 2 now has its first-ever cat named Cat.vmdl, but it likes to stay on the move. Here’s how to find the cat in CS2.
Palais is a brand new Wingman map in CS2, set in the city of love, Paris. It was added alongside Train in the latest CS2 update. It’s a beautiful location with intricate details and art, including an ancient mural of Gabe Newell. However, all of that detail has been overshadowed by a new feline friend named Cat.vmdl.
Here’s how to find the new cat in CS2 on Palais.
CS2 players can find the cat on the new Wingman map Palais.
After keychains, Valve has added a brand new attraction to CS2 with a cat. Unlike the chickens, this feline addition can’t be adopted as a pet but does keep players on their toes. The cat dashes across the map at random intervals, adding an unpredictable element that players encounter multiple times during a match, or sometimes not at all. However, the cat’s presence is not as erratic as one may think.
Fans can find the cat in the new Wingman map Palais’ street, outside of the playable area on A site. To visit the cat, players must go into ghost mode and teleport to that area within 10-15 seconds of the tour to catch it eating the mouse.
Players can also start a whole hunt designed around the cat by following it to the roof of Palais where it jumps inside a locker room. To find it, players must collect all keys required to unlock the locker and meet the cat. If players don’t want to put in so much effort, they can enter ghost mode and explore the map. The cat is sometimes spotted lounging on the balcony of a building near A site.
Another fun easter egg is a missing poster on Palais, which states that “Cat.vmdl” is missing and asks players not to shoot it. On the end screen, the missing cat can even be seen walking across the players.
Unlike chicken, the cat in CS2 is not interactable, which means you can’t adopt or pet it.
While it may sound like bad news, it’s actually a good thing. Not being interactable means fans can’t shoot at the cat either, which was surprisingly the main concern of most CS2 fans.
