After four days of Groups, the final four have been revealed. DRX, Team Liquid, OpTic, ZETA DIVISION and will advance to meet the region leaders in the playoffs.

In a game that tends to be dominated by NA and EMEA, other regions have made clear steps towards leveling the playing field.

The Group Stage was the setting for several upsets and near upsets.

In Group A, Fnatic lost two in a row to NIP and Zeta Division to send them packing. in Group B, XERXIA upset OpTic and nearly beat Liquid to advance to the playoffs.

Unfortunately, in the rematch against OpTic, the latter team got their revenge and ended the underdog story – putting a stamp on it with a strong performance on Haven.

The VCT playoff picture

Apart from Fnatic missing, the four teams making it out of Groups isn’t too surprising to see.

DRX has now become one of the top teams to watch in the event with their utter domination.

Liquid and OpTic were always expected to make the playoffs, and the matchup between NIP and ZETA DIVISION could have gone either way.

Our eight playoff teams are officially decided:

  • G2 Esports
  • LOUD
  • Team Liquid
  • Paper Rex
  • DRX
  • The Guard
  • OpTic Gaming
