At the end of the regional qualifiers, one team stands out as the Dota TI 2024 favorite to sweep the whole thing.
Competition on the Road to the International was fierce this year, with six direct invites being sent out before the regional qualifiers to unarguably deserving teams. The remaining ten slots were finalized today; teams from all six regions of Dota competitions will be attending group stage, playoffs, and maybe even the finals in Copenhagen in September.

Team Falcons is the current favorite for The International, but it may have some competition on its tail.
In 2024, Falcons dominated nearly every tournament it participated in. The squad took first in DreamLeague Seasons 22 and 23, BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, and ESL One Birmingham 2024. The team additionally took second and third in Elite League Season 1 and PGL Wallachia Season 1 respectively. This stellar performance has many thinking that the fan favorite will dominate at TI 2024.
However, it isn’t a sure thing. Team Spirit has a habit of putting on middling performances during the year and then wining TI, as shown in both 2021 and 2023. Their low results in tournaments like ESL One Birmingham aren’t necessarily indicative of how the Eastern European titan will play in Copenhagen.
The international team Tundra Esports also could come in and surprise everyone. Team member Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen has an X factor that many suspect could be enough to push them over the top. Plus, they have a similar track record compared to Team Spirit and won TI 2022.
Team Spirit and Tundra Esports still have an uphill battle when it comes to beating TI 2024 favorite Team Falcons. but the odds are not impossible.

16 teams from all major Dota 2 regions will compete at The International 2024.
Valve directly invited six teams, including Team Falcons, based on tournament performances. Notably, none of the invitations went to teams from South America, North America, or Southeast Asia.
The other 10 TI 2024 teams come from the regional qualifiers that finished today, across six different regions. One top team in Western Europe, OG, was disqualified at the last minute because of a member requiring a stand-in.
All teams will compete in the event running September 4 through September 10. Any fans wishing to attend the following finals are able to get tickets here. Only then will Team Falcons be able to prove if they live up to being the TI 2024 favorite.
