Momosuzu Nene returned to streaming on November 12 and revealed that the cause of her hiatus was someone breaking into her home while she was away.
Momosuzu Nene is a Japanese vtuber from Hololive. Back in July 2024, she canceled her streams and posted on Twitter that she was going on a hiatus. Despite her break, she remained active on Twitter, but she never elaborated on what happened.
Until her November 12, 2024 stream in which she revealed what led to her hiatus.
The reason for Momosuzu Nene’s hiatus was a break-in incident regarding her house which made her move back with her parents.
In her November 12 stream she revealed that before her karaoke stream, she went out to buy some drinks at a nearby convenience store. Upon returning home, she found out that her house had been broken into.
She mentioned that she found her house in a mess and that some of her beetle’s dirt was all over the place. Because of this, she moved in with her parents for additional security because this has terrified her to the point of being reclusive. Her parents and fellow Hololive streamers were supportive of the move saying that she was very lucky that she was outside of the house when the break-in happened.
Her recounting of events was vague and she did mention that she was not going to clarify most of what she talked about, most likely due to Hololive’s advice.
Since vtubers often hide themselves behind an avatar, they are prime targets of stalkers that are eager to learn more about their favorite streamer. This can lead to a break-in, similar to what happened to Nene.
Another vtuber that had a pretty similar experience is Camila. Just earlier this month, there was an attempted break-in in Camila’s house which horrified her fans. According to Camila, she heard a knock on her window while she was streaming and thought that it was nothing. But apparently, it was a break-in attempt.
The next day, she posted a warning on Twitter telling other vtubers to check the gifts they receive at conventions for tracking devices. She also mentioned that she moved out temporarily and that she doesn’t have any plans to return to that location any time soon.
Camila’s break-in experience ended in the arrest of the perpetrator.
