An unidentified buyer has acquired the most sought-after AK-47 Blue Gem in all of CS2 for the implied price of over $1 million.
Tracking expensive skin transactions in Counter-Strike 2 can be quite a challenge. These high-value transactions typically take place in the private market, making it difficult to obtain sales records and pricing information. However, details about CS2’s most expensive skin sale most expensive public sale have emerged online, and players are absolutely flabbergasted.
A buyer purchased a StatTrak factory new AK-47 with the coveted blue gem pattern 661, which was listed on a CS2 trading site on January 15. When it was first found, the skin was expected to be valued at around $1 million. However, the buyer has all but confirmed that they paid even more than that for the skin.
The shiny blue and gold skin was being brokered by established trader Roflm0nster, who has refused to share the exact transaction and buyer’s name, but has confirmed that a $1 million offer was rejected multiple times. This means that the AK-47 blue gem pattern 661 likely sold for over $1 million.
This CS2 sale is one of the most significant ones to date. Thanks to the income generated from a virtual in-game item, the former owner is now in a position to purchase a real life Porsche 911 or Ferrari F40. But it’s much more than just a mere virtual item for CS2 skin collectors.
The top AK-47 blue gem pattern 661 didn’t exist in StatTrak and factory new until January 2024. According to traders, it was “discovered” out of nowhere and had likely existed for longer. The skin’s existence was close to a miracle, at least for CS2 skin enthusiasts who hadn’t seen a clean StatTrak 661 pattern in over a decade. While multiple StatTrak 661 Pattern AKs existed in minimal wear condition, this is the only known factory new one.
While this skin is the rarest AK-47 on the market, the same pattern in minimal wear condition sold for $400,000 in 2022. It remains to be seen how long the new owner holds on to the skin before selling it to someone who makes a bigger offer.
