According to a reporter, Fortnite might release a batch of skins based on the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers in the near future.
Epic Games’ Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations, with Family Guy and Metal Gear Solid being two of the many huge IPs the game has partnered with. It seems the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won’t be the only Saturday-morning cartoon team in Fortnite, as a report reveals that the Power Rangers might be coming to the game soon.
This report comes from Nick Baker of the XboxEra podcast shortly after revealing information on the State of Play. He claims that the colorful group of teenagers will come to Fortnite. The podcaster also provides information on which rendition of the Power Rangers fans can expect, and it’s a fan-favorite.
The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers are reportedly coming to Fortnite, but there’s no official confirmation from Epic Games yet.
The XboxEra host states the Power Rangers will join the Fortnite roster and speculated that the collaboration might bring a bundle similar to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one, which featured all the turtles together.
Longtime fans might wonder which iteration of the Power Rangers will appear in Fortnite and whether it will be one of the teams from the show or if the 2017 film might get prioritized. Baker stated that the skins will be based on the original batch of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. This group starred in the 1993 series, spanned multiple comics and has fan-favorite versions of the Rangers, most notably Jason David Frank’s Green Ranger and White Ranger.
It’s currently unclear how Epic will package the group. The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers originally included the Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, and Pink Rangers, with the Green Ranger joining later on and then becoming the White Ranger. It’s unknown if the first five will be packaged together, if the Green Ranger and White Ranger will be sold separately, or whatever else.
There could also be multiple skin variants for the same character, similar to how Dragon Ball Z’s Cell skin has both his first form and perfect form variants. Fortnite might also have original versions of the characters like the game did with TMNT’s Shredder. It’s also unclear if the skins will have any sort of integration with the actors who played their characters or if the game will simply include the actual Rangers.
There is no confirmation on when the Power Rangers might come to Fortnite.
All Baker stated was that the collaboration “may be soon,” followed by saying that Epic is “funny on timelines,” suggesting that he doesn’t know when the collaboration might happen. Epic ultimately has a constant churn of new skins and events in Fortnite, adding them to the game but keeping them hidden before rolling them out when convenient.
As has become a trend with Fortnite collaborations, date miners will likely pick up on the Rangers coming to Fortnite even before the official announcement. Since that hasn’t happened yet, fans might have to wait until after Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 ends, which will be around March 8, 2024.
