BLAST Open Spring’s group stage is offering up lots of rematches from recent events, and the latest example is NaVi vs The MongolZ.
NaVi and The MongolZ just played each other a few days ago. They’re about to do so again, too. That follows MOUZ vs Team Spirit in a do-over of one of EPL 21’s bigger upsets and FaZe Clan vs Astralis, which netted Astralis third place in PGL Cluj-Napoca.
NaVi and The MongolZ is a particularly interest match, especially from a betting perspective.
NaVi and The MongolZ will play in BLAST Open Spring 2025’s group stage in a best-of-three match. The match is in the upper bracket semifinals, with the winner having a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. The loser will still be in contention, but will need to win out of the lower bracket.
NaVi lost in the ESL Pro League Season 21 playoffs to The MongolZ, resulting in an eighth-place finish. It rebounded in BLAST Open Spring by beating Furia.
The Aleksib era of NaVi has still been a great one though, with the team’s roster including these players:
NaVi is strong on all CS2 active duty maps with a record of 50% or better across each one. It’s 4-0 on Anubis over the last six months but otherwise, it’s not unstoppable on any other map. Nuke and Inferno are technically its weakest, though it’s only played once on Train since its return.
The best Asian Counter-Strike team in history has continued its strong form of late, placing well in events even if it doesn’t win them. The MongolZ finished top-four in ESL Pro League Season 21 and won its way through the first round of BLAST Open Spring’s group stage by beating M80.
The MongolZ’s all-Mongolian roster stands as follows:
The MongolZ is particularly strong on Inferno, Dust 2, and Anubis, with a 70% winrate or higher on those three maps over the last six months. It’s still above 60% on Mirage and Ancient, too. The one possible kryptonite might be Nuke, where it has a sub-50% winrate during that time.
Over the last year, The MongolZ and NaVi have played three times, with the 2-1 record going to NaVi. However, their last showdown was just days ago in ESL Pro League Season 21 which was won by The MongolZ.
NaVi is the favorite over The MongolZ in this match, with the moneylines standing at 1.72 and 2.11, respectively. Bookies aren’t biting on The MongolZ’s recent win over NaVi, and have the Ukrainian team as the fairly decisive favorite.
The MongolZ will likely take the loss to NaVi in the BLAST Open Spring group stage. NaVi shouldn’t feel particularly comfortable as they did just take an L from them, but the team’s overall body of work is beyond question at this point.
