The Mikeneko and Mafumafu drama is over, here’s what happened

The years-long legal dispute between Mikeneko and Mafumafu is infamous among the vtuber community. but it seems the parties have finally settled the matter.

Mikeneko started as a regular streamer as early as 2011 but ventured into the vtuber industry with the Hololive agency as Uruha Rushia. However, after some controversy, Uruha was terminated and re-debuted as independent vtuber Mikeneko. On the other hand, Mafumafu is a famous Japanese singer with a massive 3.58 million subs on YouTube. However, something even more famous than the vtuber and singer is the dispute between the two.

The long and much drawn-out legal battle between Mikeneko and Mafumafu has finally ended and fans want to know the result of the lawsuit.

What was the dispute between Mikeneko and Mafumafu?

Mafumafu alleged that Mikeneko was slandering his name and he filed a lawsuit against the latter for slander and libel.

The dispute between Mikeneko and Mafumafu started after their divorce. During the divorce proceedings, an undisclosed third party posted unverified slander against Mafumafu on the internet. Mafumafu claimed Mikeneko paid anonymous people to post vile things about the former.

Mafumafu sued Mikeneko for allegedly slandering and spreading fake rumors about him. In his claims, Mafumafu alleged he was accused of domestic violence, cheating, and even killing Mikeneko’s cat. The court case has been ongoing for a long time, but the dispute between the two parties is finally settled.

Mikeneko’s response to the settlement

Mikeneko and Mafumafu shared details of their settlement on their social media accounts. Mikeneko posted on her X that the dispute between her and Mafumafu had been settled with mutual consent. She further stated that all civil and criminal claims have been dropped. The vtuber apologized to her fans and concerned parties for the inconvenience caused.

She further stated that she wasn’t guilty of domestic abuse, infidelity, or animal abuse. Mikeneko ended by stating that she’ll continue streaming and looks forward to the support of her fans.

Meanwhile, in his X post, Mafumafu stated that the lawsuit from his side was filed for slander on social media. While the lawsuit from Mikeneko was for his comments in a livestream. The singer elaborated that they have been fighting for a long time and now both sides have withdrawn. Similar to Mikeneko, Mafumafu also stated that all civil and criminal claims have been dropped.

Mafumafu further elaborated that he had received a settlement offer from the opposing counsel in July 2024. The singer explained that he had been struggling with the decision for two months. He elaborated that he made a decision based on something the judge told him in court.

Mafumafu said the judge told him it’s unlikely either side would be persecuted, and even if they were, the punishment wouldn’t be severe. The judge asked him whether he valued his time or wanted to continue to fight for an even longer time. The singer stated this is when he decided to end the case. He explained that it’s been over two years and he’s received many threats. Furthermore, Mafumafu said it was even painful when he was making music.

Mafumafu claims that he settled the case as he saw no hope of it ending. He also claims to stand by his accusations and is grateful that the court guaranteed that both parties will not have any contact whatsoever.

Even though the case ended, neither party accepted any wrongdoing. It is important to note that both parties involved settled the case out of court. so neither truly won or lost.
