After allegations of cheating and online hate, the vtuber Froot is coming forward with claims of the abuse she faced at the hands of her ex.
Apricot the Lich, better known as Froot, debuted in the vtuber scene in 2020 as one of the first-generation members of VShojo. The vtuber gained popularity quickly as evidenced by reaching 100,000 YouTube subscribers in less than 2 months. However, with popularity comes negative attention, and Froot is no different. The streamer faced allegations of cheating and was subjected to online hate.
After facing all the hostility and toxicity Froot is coming forward on September 18, 2024, to share her terrifying experience with abuse.
An ex-boyfriend of Froot accused the vtuber of cheating, but she has now disproved the claims.
The vtuber Froot was accused by an ex-boyfriend of cheating on him with multiple men. The ex-boyfriend apparently even took the vtuber to court, but the case reportedly didn’t go anywhere due to lack of evidence. However, other content creators got the chance to sling mud and get views from the accusations.
The vtuber Ant Hime made a video discussing Froot’s past. In the video, she talked about the alleged cheating, but the video was issued a copyright strike. Ant Hime claimed the copyright strike was unfair as she didn’t claim any content as her own and followed YouTube’s fair usage policy.
After that, the situation was covered neutrally by the vtuber Khyo. While Khyo claimed that the copyright strike doesn’t seem fair, he also stated that he doesn’t agree with all the content of the documentary posted by Ant Hime.
Vtuber FalseEyeD was next to stream and talk about Froot, and he sided with VShojo’s talent. He talked about Froot being targeted with no proof of the allegations. That didn’t deter Ant Hime, and she managed to get her original video reinstated and made a new one talking about the copyright strike. Even with the allegations against Froot unproven, Ani Hime, other vtubers, and fans continued to abuse Froot over the alleged infidelity.
The vtuber Froot posted on her X account to share her experience with abuse, sharing a document with an extensive account what she faced.
On September 18, Froot shared a 90-page long Google document in her X post to share her truth with fans. In the document, Froot denied the allegations pointed at her and accused her ex of abuse. She explained that she was putting all the details out as a result of constant harassment from the community.
The vtuber stated that her ex from when she was 19 years old was a very manipulative and abusive person. The ex allegedly purchased plane tickets for Froot so she could visit him. However, while traveling alone, Froot claimed she was assaulted during a sleepover at an airport.
Froot stated that she told her ex about the unfortunate incident but his reaction was too subtle. According to the vtuber, the ex blamed Froot for the assault and claimed he was providing for her. The streamer alleged that her ex started to demand sexual acts that she was uncomfortable with. When Froot rejected his requests, the ex apparently brought up how much he did for her, including consoling her after her assault.
Froot further claimed that her ex threatened to cheat on her when she refused his sexual advances. Additionally, she claimed her ex pressured her to have children and threatened he would have them with someone else when she refused.
The harrowing story is a reminder that there is a real person behind every vtuber avatar. The story of Froot’s abuse is terrifying, and also another reminder that fans don’t always know what’s going on behind the scenes.
