Landed a clip-worthy shot on Faceit and couldn’t record it with instant replay? Here’s how to watch Faceit demos in CS2 to record clips.
Faceit has polished the platform to welcome a new herd of players looking for serious competition. From punishing smurfs in bulk to introducing votekick, the platform is becoming a go-to destination for players. Since the competition is harsh on Faceit, highlight-worthy plays are a rarity, making them well worth recording when they happen. Many CS2 pro players rely on this feature to review gameplay, analyze mistakes, and refine strategies. But casual players often use demos to cut out clips for content.
Those not actively using Steam’s recording feature to save PC space can still watch Faceit demos in CS2 later and clip out important rounds. Here’s how.
Follow these steps to watch Faceit demos in CS2.
Now, start CS2 and open the console by pressing the tilde (~) key. In the text box, type “playdemo nameofdemo” and press enter to load up the demo. The Faceit game demo will play with a small box that includes different functions to help you replay rounds, analyze player positions, review kill timelines, and adjust playback speed for detailed analysis.
Third-party software like Nvidia GeForce Experience can also be used to record short clips with the option to delete the original video file to save storage space. Steam also recently added a native clip feature that can passively record gameplay along with a player’s mic and desktop audio.
As a final note, keep in mind that demos must be played on the same version of Counter-Strike that they were recorded on. Players may need to roll back updates to watch older Faceit demos on the regular CS2 client.
Players must be 21 years of age or older or reach the minimum age for gambling in their respective state and located in jurisdictions where online gambling is legal. Please play responsibly.
