Surrender is no longer available on console Valorant, forcing first-time ranked players to stick with toxic teammates.
After a series of complaints, Valve acknowledged a bug on Valorant console, which was denying any input by the controller. Due to this, players would find themselves stuck in the middle of the game or item shop, failing to perform any action. The only solution was to restart the game or power off the device.
According to Riot Games, it’s a client issue that is currently getting patched. However, players are having to bear the brunt of this fix with a higher cost.
“We are disabling the ability to surrender and remake on console due to a bug that may cause players to lose control during the game,” Riot said on July 19.
This means that until the issue gets fixed, players will no longer have the ability to quit a game with toxic teammates. Moreover, players who get an AFK teammate who disconnects in the first few rounds can no longer go for a remake. This feature is invaluable because there are numerous AFK players in Valorant, and the remake feature is extremely useful in these situations.
But, with the current issue, players will have to deal with all sorts of teammates and games. With ranked mode starting on June 26, this issue may cause serious troubles for competitive players in Valorant. Rest assured, the features will return when the bug is all patched up.
Valorant console will get surrender and remake back in patch 9.02, Riot has confirmed.
Riot has revealed that both options to get out of a bad matchup in Valorant will return once the controller input issue has been fixed, which will be in patch 9.02. The console version of the game is currently patch 9.00, and since Riot rolls out a new update after every two weeks or so, patch 9.02 may come out during the middle or end of July 2024.
