The circle of Secret, Puppey and TI

Publish Date: 09/28/2021

Come to my lair, said the spider to the fly!

Well, I mean, not literally. Spiders don’t really like talking that much. It’s just a metaphor.

Now you’d be wondering as to which one’s the spider and which one’s the fly, right? Oh don’t. I love to tell tales, and just as destiny would have it, today’s your lucky day!

Let me take you back to a time where a man stood tall (no pun intended) with a cheque of $1,000,000 in his hand along with the first ever victors of The International Dota 2 Championships; Natus Vincere.

His shadow itself overpowering that of his teammates at the time, Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov, was brimming like he won a million do.. oops, he actually did!

Being at the top of the game, year after year, Puppey’s correlation with TI is that of love & hate.

While Puppey’s love for the game and hunger towards winning another TI continues to grow, especially after coming close to the Aegis thrice in a row, although in its formative years, TI is as elusive as a scorned lover.

Doesn’t make sense right? Let me know when it does!

Possibly the greatest player to have ever graced the scene, Puppey’s career trajectory post Team Secret’s formation has been quite monotonous, to say the least.

It reminds me of the fight scene in ‘The Way of the Dragon’ where Bruce Lee faces a formidable foe in Chuck Norris.

It would also be the perfect way to describe Secret:

  • Bruce Lee at the start of the year – looking pristine and dangerous
  • Chuck Norris as the year progresses – biting the dust when it matters the most

I will refrain from making a Chuck Norris joke – lord knows the internet doesn’t need any more of those.

Unfortunately, it’s that time of the year again. The dominant Secret, with Puppey hoping to clinch his second championship ring, is fizzling out as TI nears.

As opposed to DPC Season 1, Secret looked underwhelming in Season 2 and evidently floundered at the WePlay AniMajor showing clear signs of rust.

Feels like Deja vu all over again, right?

This rut needs fixing, and the man himself needs to take charge. Are you reading this Puppey?

TI is your lair and Aegis is your way out, but it’s high time for you to make a choice! Spider or the fly?

In the end, we all love a love story! Well, I prefer an action flick, and I can’t wait to see Puppey in action.
